Boot camp

Lola and I survived our first private obedience training session.  Of course the little bugger was on her best behavior for about 3/4 of the hour. Lol   Jennifer was great with her (and me) and we came home with some homework on "impulse control" issues.  We go back again next week.  The good news is she thinks after a couple more private sessions Lola will be ready for a puppy socialization class.

It was a great place.  Sorry no pictures, I was too busy listening and watching.  But there was ramps and tunnels and Lola had a great time and got lots of treats (when she behaved).  The best part was when we got home.  She was completely worn out.

After getting a drink, she found her blanket and within 10 minutes she was snoring.  She has the cutest little puppy snore :).  I got to relax and even take a leisurely bath!!

The other tip I got was to get a Kong, fill it with kibble and plain yogurt, seal the ends with peanut butter and freeze it.   I did that as soon as we got home.  Tonight when she started to get wound up I gave it to her

That little thing kept her busy for 51 minutes.  Yes, I timed it.  Lol. She eventually got every little bit out of it.   ALL HAIL THE KONG!!!!!!

Little Lola has gone to bed early and I think I'll join her soon.

  2. Wish I had the kong when my furbabies were puppies! Great idea, and she is so cute but a tiger in disguise! I think you are both on the right track!

  4. Great news and I truly hope this doggie boot camp works for her and for your sake. My dog loves Kongs and being a big dog his are bigger for him. However I put treats in mine which Ben eventually gets out. Didn't even think about putting yogurt and PB and freezing it. I'll do that with the smallest of the ones he has as soon as I send this message.

What I do also is that Ben has a real bone with the marrow cleaned out and I put peanut butter into the ends of that too. He loves his PB.

  9. You are a woman after my own heart...I am so happy that you are taking the time and expense to train this little darling. Maybe you can still get Scout too...a friend for Lola?
