My little princess Millie is sick. She's been getting worse with her little pee pee accidents and just not acting right. This morning I called the Vet and she told me to bring her in at 3:30pm. AND to bring in a urine sample.
Hmmm, how am I going to do that! At first she suggested I use my ladle. My ladle.....that I cook with! So instead I got an aluminum pie plate, trapped Millie In the bathroom and tried to keep up with her evasive tactics. Eventually I got a few drops
It was not easy and it was not pretty! I transferred my little sample into a pill bottle and away we went. We were there 2 1/2 hours! Blood tests and X-Rays and a Vet that was not giving me good signals. She told me to wait about a half hour for another result and then they would see what they could do, "IF there was anything they could do". I was terrified and naturally fearing the worst.
Finally she called us back in and said the test results were not as bad as she was expecting. Millie has kidney stones and some blood in her urine. We left with antibiotics to try for a week. If the antibiotics clear up the infection then she may give her some estrogen.
Poor little baby is worn out. She's just got her face peeking out from under the blankets.
The temperature is dropping and it's suppose to go down to minus 30 tonight. But Millie is all cuddled up.
Millie, get better sweetie...You and I have the same bed head hairdo..
ReplyDeletePoor baby!!! I hope the antibiotics help.
ReplyDeleteGetting a urine sample from a dog isn't fun.
Try to stay warm.
Hugs :)

ReplyDeletePoor Miss Millie! Sending hugs and love! Temps are to be falling as our week continues here, but not as cold as yours! Yikes! xo
ReplyDeletePoor little girl. I'm praying for your sweet fur baby.
ReplyDeleteI hope she gets better fast and she is back to her ole self soon. Poor little girl.
ReplyDeleteThat is very cold!!! Have a nice evening. In spite of the cold.
Awww, hope Millie gets better soon... Cold here too, brrrr, blessings Francine.
ReplyDeleteAwww poor baby! :( Give her a big hug from Auntie Janet. What will the estrogen do ? I hope she is not in pain with the stones. Sometimes I can't tell if Downy is hurting. She won't cry or whine. Just hide and stay quiet.
ReplyDeleteHope Millie gets better soon. Stay warm Take care, Janet W oxo
Aww poor Millie! I hope the antibiotics do the trick and she feels better soon!! Our fur babies bring so much love, it's hard to see them slow down. Stay warm!
ReplyDeleteHope the anitibiotics do their job. Feel better, Millie. Is it Spring, yet?
ReplyDeleteOh Kim,
ReplyDeleteIf it's any consolation we have been through bladder infections and stones here with our kids too. One a few years back requiring surgery. The same symptoms of peeing and you know they don't feel good. Maybe filtered water or a good bottled water in the drinking dish may help too. Small breeds may have to be encouraged to drink or add water to their food. Will be thinking of both of you... winter is hard enough to get through without extra worries. Take care of yourself and keep us posted on your little girls progress.
Warm hugs and healing energies!!

Poor baby.. so is that what I need Millie? Some estrogen? I just had a pesky kidney stone blasted on the 4th of December! Don't be telling me kidney stones are another PIA thing to deal with post menopause! Millie you have to drink tons of water!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So says the cute urologist.. :)
ReplyDeleteI can't stand seeing an animal being sick. They can't tell you what's wrong. Poor little Millie. Keep her warm. Kidney stones are painful. I hope she'll be feeling better as soon as the antibiotic kicks in. You probably got her to the vet on time .
ReplyDeleteHugs,
JB
Poor little baby. I can't believe you actually managed to get a sampler! I remember trying to get a urine sampler from a horse years ago, never did succeed. I hope she feels much better soon. Melinda
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh, so sorry about Millie. As I thought, she did have something going on when she started peeing on your bed. Kidney stones? I am wondering if the vet thinks Millie will pass them? How the heck will estrogen help stones? That's a new one. Maddy had bladder infection last spring. Easy to get a sample from her as I keep saying, go peepee and she does. I catch it with a kidney dish. The vet can extract a sample direct through bladder with a needle for a sterile sample. Been through that too! Good luck!
ReplyDeleteHoping you li'l girl gets better soon. Maybe even talk to the vet about what you can do with her diet to prevent this from occurring again.
ReplyDeleteHope she gets to feeling better, poor thing.
ReplyDeleteAwww... that's got to be painful... hope Millie heals quick...
