The aftermath

First, I will apologize for another picture laden post about the downtown fire.  I am sorry, but it is kind of a big deal around here and is pretty much all we have talked about for 2 days.

Thank you all for the kind words and concern. There were no major injuries and the displaced people are being well looked after by volunteers.  Donations are pouring in.   The fire is out, except for some smouldering rubble which a small crew is handling.

These are pictures I took at the site approximately an hour ago, just after supper.

  3. Absolutely no need to apologize....Ever since I read your last post (which wasn't that long ago), I've been thinking of this. I am grateful for the update. Glad no one was injured and that it is under control, but wow....the destruction is just devastating. Any theories on how it started?? Still praying in Nod.....Robin

  4. Thanks for the update Kim, it is such a tragedy and no need to apologize. It leaves such a gaping hole on the block. I've been thinking about you and your town often today. Fire is so powerful and destructive when out of control. I hope that the buildings will be rebuilt soon.

    Hugs, JB

  5. Fires make me sad. I hate to see lovely old buildings go up in flames. Not to mention the loss of homes, etc.

  11. No need to apologize, Kim. It's your home and your community and I'm glad you shared it with us. After spending those few days in Amherst a few years ago, a bit of my heart lies there, also, so while I was shocked and saddened by the news, I was glad to get it. Please do keep us updated as things start turning around. XXXX
