Markets and meltdowns

Yesterday morning I decided to go check out a farmers market in a nearby town, Sackville. A few of my friends have been mentioning how great it was, so off I went. I knew they blocked off part of the street for the morning. I was expecting a few tables along the sides. Well, imagine my surprise as I approached and saw this....

The street was tented all the way up. I really should have been a good blogger and taken more pics but I was shocked. There were people everywhere. As I walked up the sidewalk, several sidewalk cafes were bustling and little shops were full. Inside the tents there were loads of vendors with fruits, vegetables, baking, crafts etc. I'll be back there next Saturday, armed with a shopping bag to hold more goodies. For a small little town, this was an event to be proud of.

That was the extent of my excursions this weekend. It's HOT. Way to hot for me. And today is worse. This is the reading on my car temp gauge at 11am this morning.

And with the humidex it feels like 35 degrees. That's hovering around 100 in Fahrenheit. Gotta go sit in front of a fan for the rest of the day.

(this winter when I am whining about the cold, someone remind me of today)

  1. Kim,
That scene looks exactly like a little town we have near here called Spooner!
They do the same thing by blocking the main street and setting up tents for vendors of all kinds! The crowds are huge! Tough to do in the heat! I wouldn't last two seconds! I hope you do go again and the weather breaks so you can really enjoy it!!
Stay in front of that fan!!
    Hugs!

  2. You just have the nicest things around you. That just looks awesome. So next week take your camera inside. I would love to see what it looks like on the inside. Gee whiz it is hot when it is that hot where you live. I hope it breaks soon.
I hope you have a nice day today in spite of the heat. :)

  3. Believe or not, I love the fall and winter seasons. Summer is my least favorite season.Don't get me wrong I enjoy it but not the humidity. Ever since I had my kids I can not tolerate the heat and the humidity. The best thing about summer for me is the fresh veggies and I have the entire summer of from work. Farmers markets are one of my favorite places to frequent. Love them!

  4. I love farmer's markets! They are probably one of my favorite things/places to attend. They have a nice one like that (where the block of the streets) at our favorite beach on the weekends, and an enormously giant one in a coastal town on Thursdays... This post makes me want to go!

  5. You've got me wondering why the heck I haven't managed to make it to one single market this season yet. I love going....even though my boys aren't huge fruit/veggie eaters (I know!)and I always come home with more than we'll eat, there's nothing like something fresh from the garden or market. Hope you stay cool. We've been wretchedly hot (and that's not said lightly from a gal who likes it hot), but a cold front came in yesterday and today we're only in the low 70's. With the accompanying brisk wind, I had to switch out my shorts for denims and dig out my hoodie. Happy Sunday! Smiles & Hugs ~ Robin

Sounds like a wonderful market. Please do take pics next time.
I am not a fan of the humidity, but I will take this weather over winter any day of the week!
    Pug hugs :)

  8. I will not complain about the winter...at least nowhere near as much as I do the heat! That market looks like such fun--hope it is cooler next week for you to enjoy!

  9. 31 C. is 87.8 F according to my converter on my apple computer. It's hot enough for me though.

I haven't been to the Farmers Market in ages. I used to like going but I avoided large crowds after Chemo and the the pandemic scare and got so busy I guess it never occurs to me to go. I'm not much of a consumer anyway and tend to grow my own veggies in the summer and freeze some. I think that the tent is a wonderful temporary idea where there's no permanent Farmers Market building.

I'll join the Complainer's Club if there's still room.

    Hugs, JB

  10. I don't much care for the cold of winter either... but, the heat and humidity of this Summer is way off the charts uncomfortable. I can at least put a sweater on in the cold... Summer.. for get it... 3 showers a day and how many sets of clothes? lol! Farmer's market looks to be great! Enjoy it next weekend!

  12. I love our farmer's market and try to go each week. Something new to discover each time I go. Yours sounds fabulous and fun. Glad you got to enjoy it, but I do feel the pain of heat and humidity. We've had plenty all summer but today is perfect..70's, sunny, no humidity, rain over the weekend made everyone smile! Hope this week is cooler for you!
