To Sew or Not To Sew?

For awhile now I have been toying with the idea of buying a small (I mean cheap) little, basic sewing machine. I'm always trying to track down a friend or my neighbor when I need a little seam sewed, and it always seems that schedules conflict etc. (I guess by now you have figured out I have NO patience and like to do things THE MINUTE I think of them!)
And I think that there are lots of little craft uses I could come up with other than zigzagging along a piece of rug burlap........

What do you think........?

  1. Kim,
My sewing machine is just a cheaper model, Brother I think it is..... sews great! Cost about 70.00 USD I couldn't make it through a day without a sewing machine! I think there is a trip to the sewing machine store in your future! XXOO Cathy G

  3. All you'll get in a cheap model is frustration and poor quality. I'd rather see you spend a little more and get something that is sturdy. I think with a max output of $150 you might find something that would suit your needs.

  4. Kim, one of the first things I bought when I got my first full time nursing job, was a sewing machine-a Baycrest. That was back in 1975 or so. I still have it and it works! The only thing is I can't buy the bobbins that fit it anymore and only have the one. If I lose it, I am in trouble!

I agree with everyone else. Get one that zig-zags and a few other stitches. Don't get too cheap and avoid Wally Mart stuff (pun intended)
