A happy start

I started 2016 not with a bang, but with my hook.  I don't make resolutions because I always fail but I did set a little hooking goal for the year.  If you call it a goal it's less of a failure than breaking a resolution.  Lol.  I started a new rug New Year's Eve.  I had to take a break yesterday and de-Christmas Auntie's house.   That was a chore. She had a thousand knick knacks everywhere.   Then we had supper together.  But as soon as we finished Abby and I headed home.   She was worn out from tearing around Aunties house  and I was anxious to get back to this
I love it but I'm going to have to change the letters.  There isn't enough contrast but I don't know what colour to use.
Any suggestions??  This is a Lori Brechlin pattern

  1. I love the colors you used, so to keep it prim, I think a shade close to the one you used in the house. If you can go a little darker than the house, that might be perfect.

  2. I love it. Use the house or roof wool for the letters. Hugs, Kat

  4. Oh I do love that project and the colors are great. I agree with those before me. House color for the letters would be great. Well a combination of the house and roof colors. Can't wait to see it completed.

    HAPPY NEW YEAR... Janet W

  5. What is it suppose to say. Happy what? I think I'd go with the house colors, maybe a tad darker if it looks good.

  7. You got quite a lot hooked gal, and I love it. I too think something like the roof colors would be great. And if you don't have much of that then even the tree trunk color would be okay since the base if thicker and the letters might sorta balance.

  8. Good morning, Kim. Hmmmm....I'm going with the roof color. It would balance out the light and dark in the picture. Whatever you choose...I like it! LOL

  9. I am glad you started out the new year hooking. That is a great thing to do. We are supposed to have rain all week, so no working outside for me. Maybe I will get to pick up a hook. Have a wonderful first week of January. I love the colors of that rug.

  10. The perfect way to start the new year and you're off to a great start.
I concur with others...either the house or the roof.
    Keep us posted.
    Hugs :)

  11. I'm late coming in but I have to agree with the majority too, house or roof color for the letters. Nice way to start the new year.

I'm almost ready to start putting my Christmas decorations away. I got all the Christmas cards picked up and in the waste paper basket.
    That's Day One, lol...

  12. That's a beautiful rug! Great way to start off the New Year! I'm thinking a color close to the house color would be nice? Or, a lighter red?

  13. I have this pattern too - love it! Might be fun to add a light blue for the letters? How big is this rug? I can't decide how much to enlarge the pattern.....
