Fall Sunday Random

Whoa, posts from me three days in a row.  I'm on fire!  Lol.  First this wet weather system just won't leave.  It's STILL raining.  It feels like it's been raining for a month.  I'm soggy.  I feel like I could start to sprout any day now.  I need some sun!

I was in the backyard today and my neighbor was out putting out some Halloween decorations.  I told her to stop, she was making me look like the only house on the block with no festive spirit!  But I can't go out buying decorations --- I still have no kitchen curtains!  This grown-up priorities thing is really starting to get on my nerves. Lol

However, I do have a festive bowl of gourds in my living room.

But I think I'm going to have to throw them out.  The ones are the bottom are all soft and whizzled up.  Honestly, I didn't know gourds went bad.  I was hoping to be able to keep them until I could fill the bowl with Christmas stuff but I guess I need an interim filler.

I stopped to drop of something to aunties today and as I parked in the yard a giant crow landed on the roof.  It was one of the biggest I've ever seen.  He even posed for me

I'm sure I had a couple of other random snippets to share but of course as soon as I started typing my thoughts disappeared.  The weekend ended to soon.  In a few hours it's back to the grind.

  1. Call me crazy but I love the smell of wet leaves...weird huh? I don't put live gourds or pumpkins indoors...it's all fake for me! Now that is a huge crow. I wonder if he thought your Aunties' home needed a bit of Halloween décor!

  2. These weekends always end too soon!!! UGH!
Don't feel bad. I've been in my house almost 16 years and I don't have any curtain, just some old fashioned roll up shades. I've been thinking about getting or making some, but I have so many windows. One of these days...sigh. I'd rather hook than think about curtains :)
    Hugs :)

  3. Hi Kim,
Wow you folks grow some ginourmous crows up there in Canada!! He makes a statement there on the roof! LOL!
I have tried to dry gourds in the past but very seldom had any luck at that!
Your beautiful hooked rug is all the decoration you really need! I am cutting way back on the stuff for decorating too... I have it in the studio but keeping the house less cluttered ( except for the antiques) and that's a lot dusting!
Sending hugs and hopefully some sunshine for your week!

  4. Hi Kim, how does Miss Millie like her new home? I have no curtains either, but then I live so removed from the main road...curtains seem to make my house feel smaller...I love your little rug...I have the sweet little leaf mat that you hooked out with my Fall decor...Next time you buy a pumpkin or gourd soak and wash them in the sink with bleach and warm water...it will remove the bacteria which will keep them from rotting so quickly...I hope this helps...Warm greetings from Maine

  5. Hi Kim, weekends do seem to pass so quickly. We don't even have any fall decorations out inside. Just my burlap wreath I made on the outside of the front door. I took a picture of it for my last post on my blog.

Hope Millie is enjoying her new home. And I hope you get some sunshine up there.
    Take care, Janet W

  6. That is a nice big crow! He's a great Halloween decoration all by himself.

Thanks for adding the link for the fluffy biscuits. Can't wait to try them.

  7. Hi Kim, your crow might be a raven. They are bigger than crows, but they look pretty much the same except a few little differences. I haven't put a single Fall decor up yet. I'm not all that crazy about all the rain we got here too. After all the cleaning up I did in the basement, I still got some water leak. Grrr...

I agree with Cathy G. your cute little horse rug is all the decor your table needs.

I hope you have a good week. There's got to be some sunshine out there somewhere this week.
    Hugs,
    JB

  11. My gourds last ages..I just keep rotating their position in the bowl and my house is not too warm. I actually have a bowl full from last year that I dried! I own, also, a bowlful of artificial ones. They are gorgeous, and never rot!
