Small task, big smile

There are lots of little jobs to do around here. And when I get one scratched off the list it makes me so happy.   When they moved the washer/dryer out of the kitchen it left 3 holes in the floor.  I have had them covered by a big ugly bookshelf.  All I could think of was spiders crawling up from the basement through those holes.  (Shudder)

But today a friend came by at lunch time and put plugs in the holes, screwed them in and put a little silicone around the edges.  Nothing's crawling up here now!!

And this meant I could move the bookshelf down to the basement for storage shelves.  Another nice bonus.  But with everything there is always a down side.  I cleared off the shelves to move it.  I've just been sticking stuff on the shelves to get stuff out of my way.   So now I have a new mess

I knew that having the table cleared off for the past few weeks was too good to last.  Guess I'll have to get another storage bin for this stuff tomorrow.

I'm on a mission to find a funky old style cupboard for the now vacant spot in the kitchen.  I have had no luck so far but I did contact someone to see how much it would cost to build me something.
I saw this on Pinterest tonight.  I wish I had it or a reasonable facsimile

I'm dreaming of antique cupboards instead of having nightmares about creepy basement spiders.

  3. That's a cool cupboard. Don't give up. You'll eventually find one you love. I love having antique cupboards because I'll never go to someone's house and see one just like it.
A house can be a lot of work, but everything you accomplish feels SO GOOD!!!
    Hugs :)

  4. It is the little things in life that give us so much joy. I am a list maker too and I love scratching things off.. to be honest I enjoy adding things on the list too.

I have old pie safes & cupboards that I use for all my storage. One in my bedroom for a dresser, two in the sewing room for fabric, one in the dining room for china, dishes and one in the living room for quilts. A girl can never have too many cupboards..

  9. I'm playing cat-up after being down with a horrible cold for the last few days. I've had to hit the bed right after supper. Not much fun...

I'm sure the right cupboard will show up. It's somewhere waiting for you.

I've been living in this house for more than 37 years and I can tell you, there never seems to be enough shelves or cupboards to store our stuff.

Spiders are just different kind of hookers. lol...

    Hugs,

  10. I was going to suggest you need to hit up Cathy at acorn hollow and I saw her comment...we're thinking alike! Maybe you just need to keep a look out at garage sales...something might be lurking out there with your name on it! Hope you find it...I'm betting your place is coming along nicely!

  11. In the hardware store and Wal Mart in the pest control section (maybe even the grocery store) there are sticky glue traps that catch spiders (if they are there as you imagine) and even crickets. The sticky traps are permanent fixtures in my basement. They can give you peace of mind.
