Oy Vey!

It's never good news when your phone rings early in the morning. Did you ever notice nobody ever calls to wake you out of bed to say "Good morning Sunshine, you just won the lottery"?
When I got up this morning I wasn't sure if I heard the phone or was just dreaming. Then before I could move my cell phone beeped. Text message from my "faux" sister in Massachusetts - "call me as soon as you get this message". So with my heart in my throat, I dialed. Her Mom had been rushed to the hospital in the night and her father was going nuts. And she asked would I call her Dad and try to calm him down. She was right, he was borderline psychotic with worry and I put my fears aside and gave him my best "get a grip" lecture. I really just wanted to be there to hug him. So, umpteen phone calls and emails later, all is OK. She is home and will be fine.
But that was the kick in the pants I needed to get my passport. I foolishly let mine expire so now I'm starting from the beginning. I chased around all afternoon getting the application, photos, signatures etc. So if I ever have to get to the US in a hurry, I can. There is no blood between our families but we couldn't be any closer.
So tomorrow, on my day off, I will be sitting in the passport office. Sigh......

In other news, Momma had her last check up with the surgeon today. All is GOOD!

By the time supper arrived I just had enough energy to go to McDonalds drive-thru. A French fry fell on the floor and with lightening speed Millie was all over it. She loves those French fries

  1. What a day you had. I'm glad that your faux sister's mom is OK.

Lol... that french fry is as big as Millie's leg, the little imp.I think that perhaps she could eat lot more, she's so tiny.

I got my passport renewed last year, not because I go to the US much but we have family in the US and my daughter lives overseas. You never know when an emergency could happen, heaven forbid.

Have a good weekend. I'm being taken out to the Red Lobster tomorrow for supper.

I'm glad that your mom's checkup was good. Peace of mind for you.
    Hugs,

  2. I would be down there fighting Millie for that fry... I love fries too. Heehee! I'm glad everything is alright with your extra family (I have those too!). It's always good to be prepared for whatever may happen... even if it means sitting in the passport office. Ugh. Have fun! Bring knitting! ;)

  9. I'm glad all is well with your friend's Mom and your Mom too! I still laugh at my passport pic. I'm not sure I'll ever have to use it again..but I guess I could go to Canada, it's not that far from Ohio! But I was always hoping when I did have to use it a few years ago that somebody would look at the pic and then at me and say, "Hey, this can't be you!"...but no luck, unfortunately I must look just that bad...seriously, so sad.

  13. So glad to read your good news, but going through the upset in the early a.m. couldn't have been easy. I always dread those calls after 10 in the evening and before 8 in the morning. As you say, it's almost never good. I do like your lottery winner idea!
