I'm cracked.   Not a big surprise, I know.  Lol    I wanted to title this post "Crack" but thought some of you might get the wrong idea.

But I do want to talk about Crack.  It is not about the kind of "crack" you buy in a dark alley from a sketchy looking guy.  And not any other sketchy type of crack.  (PS you have to be careful when you google "crack" for images)  ....ewwww

Do you remember my post a few weeks ago titled "Hookers Crack"?  Well I was mocking my addiction to wool but later that evening I received an email from a fellow hooker informing me that there indeed was a product known as hookers crack that is used to easily transfer patterns onto foundation fabric.

Then she told me she was sending me some.  This sweet, thoughtful blogger was none other than Doris from the blog Moments in Time.   If you are a regular follower of Doris, you already know she is a lovely lady, an extremely talented rug hooker and instructor, and of course Mom to that little doggie Eloise.  If you have never visited her blog, please stop by and say hello.

My package arrived this week.  I couldn't wait to see what this hookers crack was.

It is slightly sticky so it adheres to the backing to allow clean tracing of the pattern.   And as I examined it, I realized it is the same material that builders use to cover holes etc.  It is known at building supply stores by the name Crack Stop.  Who-da-thunk that you could find useful rug hooking supplies at the local Home Depot?

Doris also included a sweet little bunny pattern so I have something on hand to test the crack.  I'm going to test it out this weekend.

I was touched by her thoughtfulness.  I think that is one of the wonderful things about this whole blogging thing.  You get the opportunity to interact with wonderful people you wouldn't otherwise have the opportunity to meet.  And it seems there is no shortage of kindness and support amongst us.
Thank you Doris.

  1. That was really nice - from one crack to another. lol

  2. Oh that is so cool, please do a tutorial when you are going to use it. I would love to see how it works. Really that is amazing at Home Depot. So would you use it instead of red dot tracer?
Yes, the blogging world is filled with the nicest people in the whole world. :)

  3. Would love to see this, do show.
    Have a beautiful weekend.
    TTFN ~

  4. That is really interesting stuff. How nice of her to send it to you and introduce you to the idea.
I think I have a couple places on my walls I could use some of it on.

  5. Yes Kim, you better get cracking and show us a tutorial.

I agree with you about the many nice people that are out there in blogland
and Doris is one of them.

I'm looking forward to having a demonstration of this crack stop. Have a great weekend. JB

  6. Kim, thank you for the nice comments. Looks as if you may need more "crack" so I better get "cracking" and purchase more. Regards to all - kiss Millie

  7. Doris is a wonderful person... and very thoughtful too! Let us know what you think about the crack... so far I have heard only good stuff about it. I hope today is an easy one for you so that the weekend can begin sooner than later! :-)

  8. I agree, there are so many good souls here in blogland. Please share the tutorial!

  11. Kim ~
How sweet of Doris. I would love to meet her ~ and Eloise, too.
    Have a great weekend.
    Hugs :)

  12. It kind of looks like that waste canvas stuff you can use to do cross stitch designs on clothing (yeah, I know - I'm dating myself...) I trust you'll tell us how it works out....(Gee - if it makes me a lot more efficient, I can goof off even more when I'm helping my friend do up patterns!!) Smiles & Hugs, Robin

  13. Oh I can't wait to see how this works. and where can I get some or do I have to buy a huge roll.

  14. See, I think if the world leaders would just blog, then this world would have much more humor, love, thoughtfulness, caring, sharing, creativity, and they could really get a handle on situations when all the comments come in! And think of the cool giveaways they could have! Have a fun weekend with your nice gift!

  15. Oh, Kim, you crack me up!

Have fun with this'll be fun to see when you are done!

  16. Thanks for sharing the crack, Kim!

  17. Do you have the official name of the product so when I go to purchase "crack" they don't think I am cracked. Love your blog and useful hints.

  18. Wow, this is great Kim. Thanks for sharing and just found your blog so will definitly put you on my blog list
