I MUST rant now

I should start by saying I am not a prude but I'm going to sound like one today. Did anyone see Miley Cyrus' performance last night on the VMA's??   Now I did not watch the show. I have no interest in wasting several hours with that but I do enjoy reading all the gossip on the Internet in the morning over a cup of coffee.
Well, this morning the web was full of stories of Miley's shocking display.  I get the fact that she wants to shed her Hannah Montana goody goody image.  OK I think she's accomplished that!  And I'm pretty sure that Disney will be happy to shed the Miley association too.

You know it was bad when she tops the headlines over Lady Gaga who seemed to have her head in a box(?). Kind of makes you yearn for the meat dress again.....NOT.   You have to wonder if these artists are not secure enough in their musical talent to let the music speak for itself.   There are lots of incredible talented musicians who have made huge careers without resorting to ridiculous stunts or costumes (or lack of costumes).

It is not necessary to strut on stage in rubber underwear, do disgusting things with a foam finger and grind up against a married man.  And the tongue??.....please stop!   If you have not seen this performance yet, DON'T.  Once you go there, you can't un-see it.  Trust me

And while I'm on a roll - Justin Bieber.....put on a shirt and pull up your damn pants!!!

Whew!  I feel better now

  1. I just came from a blog post that asked if I thought parenting was different now than 125 years ago. I'd say YES, in that parents are up against all this trash that's thrown in the faces of young people today. Along with social media, tv, movies, are we supporting family values or supporting garbage?

  2. I don't watch TV but saw a bunch of people talking about it on Facebook so I looked it up... Now I wish I hadn't. :/

  3. Amen Sista!! My almost 16 year old was taping the show and was anxious to get home and watching -- she is a HUGE One Direction fan and a few others... I was in the same room kinda watching. Well, I didn't see the harm in my two 13 year olds also watching...UNTIL Miley came on!! I can't undo what my SON and daughters saw!! I took my two girls to see Hannah Montana years ago!! She (and her peeps) have definitely lost it!!! Did that really happen?? I could go on...and on!

  4. I was really hoping that my boys didn't watch it. It is all over the internet so of course I did catch a bit of it but I didn't and don't understand why her parents sitting in the audience looked happy. I think the best looks was Will Smith and his family. I felt so sorry for them seeing that in person.
It was worth a rant I think.

  5. I like music of all kinds, but what little I saw of it was disgraceful. Miley was so wrong with the hair cut, you name it. Do they really think they need that kind of behavior? Is their music that bad? I will never watch that show again regardless of who is there. The younger generation needs a reality check. Have a good day.

  7. Unfortunately, this crap will continue as long as folks continue to watch. The most unfortunate part is being blind sided by the stars pulling these stunts off. The networks won't ban them until they don't bring any money in anymore. Where is our society going?

  9. Oh ... Millie's mom, I'm so glad I was spared all that. Really glad. I guess I get enough entertainment at the barn, lol... really though... I really trust you on this rant. ...

So sorry you had to sift through all that. I've totally lost interest in TV viewing lately. It's not like it used to be...

I had all the wonderful entertainment I needed this evening as we celebrated Daniel's 6th month anniversary. Three big bottles of my Gewurztraminer and 11 of us at table and a huge bowl of Chicken Sundried tomato Fettuccine that my daughter Jackie cooked for us
while I was working at the farm. I made a pecan pie and a sugar pie with ice cream for desert. A great family time and lots of good belly laughter. We were actually 12 with Daniel.

    Hugs,
    JB

  10. OK, you caused me to do a Google search on MC. I must confess not having a TV I am a bit, shall we say, sheltered? I am no prude ~ FAR from it, but that was just downright disgusting. If she thought she was being sexy and hot, she failed, MISERABLY!!!
    Hugs :)

  11. OMG! I'm glad I missed this! I think you said it perfectly when you asked "If they aren't secure enough with their musical talents"...

  12. I'm glad I missed this. And to think, folks thought the Beatles and Elvis were "shameful."

  14. Thank you for saying this. Without having watched the show, the clips showed up so many times on various news programs yesterday that I felt like I'd actually been there. I'm not a prude either, but I think we've sunk to all time lows with what's on TV these days. I have seen E.D. commercials during my grandkids' cartoon shows on Saturday mornings, and I certainly don't care if some old guy can't get a woody while I'm watching the evening news. Sad, sad, sad.

  15. Now another artist relying on shock to succeed will outdo her. But it worked. Everyone is talking about it which is exactly the purpose, even if it's bad press, it's still press! Where's the Gong show hook when you need it?

  16. My opinion has always been that these performers who put on such outlandish displays are covering up for a lack of talent.

  17. I think as child actors/actresses begin to get older they surround themselves with more 'yes' people and ignore family/friends that might advise 'no'. Pretty soon, no one dares say no or the money train stops for everyone. It's sad. There is a long list of famous people that don't survive fame. Having said all this, I won't be looking at those 'foam fingers' at ballgames in quite the same way...yuck! Wish I could 'unsee' what I saw!
