Feeling the love

This Valentine Eve I can say I am feeling the love. This has been a rough week so far on my nerves. Mom's mastectomy is scheduled for tomorrow. I'm a basket case of stress and nerves but every where around me is blessings. Today a friend delivered this heart shaped cake. In fact, the door has been swinging open ALL day with people coming to visit, or offer support and assistance for the days to come. I am a little overwhelmed. I have a list of friends who have offered to put their day on hold to be a phone call away if needed. It's pretty amazing actually!

Mom's BFF was here this afternoon with a present for ME. She thought I could use a laugh. She bought me toe socks

They're pretty funny! I left them on long enough for the picture but the socks between my toes was driving me nuts! But they did make me laugh. Mission accomplished Alice.

I'm going to ask for a favor. Sometimes I struggle with prayer because it seems like I'm always asking for something. But I'm asking if you could add Mom to your prayers. She's not in the best condition for such a big operation but we don't have much choice.

I so appreciate all your comments. Happy Valentines Day to all.

  2. Kim, I'm so sorry that your Mom and you must go through this. Again, I wish she was in my hospital and I could be there with her and also for you. I'm sure your team tomorrow will be wonderful and take good care of her. I'll certainly keep her in my prayers and I'll be thinking of you all day. Looks like you have many "angels" on your side bringing in goodies, gifts and also the gift of laughter.

  14. You and your mom will be in my prayers! I didn't know your mom had breast cancer. I had a mastectomy myself in March of last year. Is your mom having a double mastectomy or just one? If there is anything that I can help you with by way of any questions you might have please ask me. No question is stupid. Your mom will have 2 or 4 drains that you will need to drain several times a day. They will give you a chart and a cup to measure the fluid. They will give her some strong pain medicine. Hopefully she will sleep like I did and won't be in any pain. I will say that when it's time for her medicine and if she is sleeping you will want to try to wake her up to give her her next dose or she will wake up in extreme pain. After a week it gets better. I wasn't able to sleep on my side for almost 2 months. That was hard for me as I'm a side sleeper. Once I was able to sleep on my side I found that hugging a pillow helped me. I'm afraid that I still sleep with that pillow but that's alright. Again, if there are any tips that I can help you with please let me know. I will do my best to try to help you. Hopefully she will get to stay in the hospital a day or two. They sent me home the same day.

    Hugs & Prayers,
    Angela
