More of Fall's Bounty

Here are a few more photos taken earlier this week as I was leaving the Annapolis Valley.  It is such a beautiful area, dotted with scenic farm lands, country markets and lots of memories.  I spent 4 years attending university in this special place.  And I think Fall is the best time of year to appreciate what it has to offer.












And it would be almost criminal to leave the Annapolis Valley without some apples.  I bought a bag of Ginger Golds, Honeycrisp, and of course MacIntosh.   My plan is to make  apple pie this weekend.  My grandmother made the best apple pie in the world.  Really, she did.   The pressure is on to re-create it.  I think it is pretty hard to screw up apple pie.  Well, I hope so anyway. 

This is Thanksgiving weekend in Canada.  Pumpkin and apple pies are tradition.  This year I do not want to eat store bought pies.    Look out - I'm strapping on the apron this weekend!

    Well Happy Thanksgiving! Good luck with the apple pie, I'm sure it will be delicious. Your photos of fall are lovely. Honeycrisp's are my favorite variety of apples.

    Oh Happy Thanksgiving Kim. I have to admit I had never heard of Ginger Gold apples till a few weeks ago. I made my first apple crisp of the season with these apples and it was delicious!!! Have a wonderful weekend, Julie.

    I was talking to someone else in Canada and learned it was Thanksgiving this Monday and then you have a Black Friday too.

    Now...picture this....A mid-aged crow, with (well-groomed) feathers, failing eyesight, wearing a dunce hat....Yeah....I'm part Canadian French and didn't realize you all celebrate Thanksgiving...for some reason, I was thinking it was part of our "pilgrim" heritage.... Anywho...Happy Thanksgiving!!! Good luck with the pies!     Happy Thanksgiving to you! Apple pie sounds yummy. My mom baked a great apple pie. Of course, she really didn't have a written recipe she followed. Me? Never tried!

    Hey Kim I would love to see you in your apron, wouldn't mind seeing you in a chef's hat either... rolling that pie crust and taking that perfect steamy apple pie out of the oven I can already smell it from here. mmmm

    I love those painted hay bales. You can see them from far away. Lovely picture of fall.
