Eeeeek.....

It was only a matter of time.  I knew this day would come eventually, as it does every Spring.

Last night, as I took Millie out to do her business, I was under attack ---  JUNE BUGS.........Eeeeek

Hitting my head, pinging off the siding, their disgusting hard shells crunching under my flip flops in the dark.  Arrrghhh   I hate them.  I imagine they will get caught in my hair and I might actually have to pick one out.  Oh, the horror !!

All the while, I'm screaming at Millie - "Hurry up, they're going to get us!!"

Thankfully they are only around for a short time.  Then it's the earwigs - oh joy oh bliss.

On a less creepy note - I have lost my hooking MoJo the last week or so.  I can't get going.  I have blank burlap, wool etc but nothing that makes me want to hook.  So I popped into Deannes at lunch and asked Brenda to find me a small project to get me moving again.

We picked out this very funky flower.  Perfect for inspiration.  Actually it really reminds of Cathy's work at Orange Sink.  And since I love her patterns I had to try it.  I know it won't match her fun style but it will be fun for me to give it a whirl.

And....I bought myself a new camera lens and it arrived today.  I hope the weather forecast changes so I can test it out this weekend.  I have to stop buying lenses now or else get a larger camera bag.  This one does not have a zoom but takes a wider angle shot for landscapes etc.   The photography lessons start in a couple of weeks so I want to practice.

Oh, and in the interest of public safety I did have 1 cookie last night.  Just one though.

  2. I know I should love all creatures great and small but I hate bugs that attack me.There are these flying black bugs that are big that actually watch me and follow me in the garden. I know you could just enlarge them in a movie and make a horror movie about their scary ugly faces and weird arm things. OK I am a little dramatic about bugs.Lol Cheri Oh did I mention lizards!

  3. Yep... I've donated quite a few pints to mosquitoes already! I dunno... are bugs better than snow? lol!

  4. Hate June bugs? YOU ARE NOT ALONE MY DEAR FRIEND. I have no use for bugs, big or small but I love butterflies even though the comes from an ugly squirmy cocoon. I don't mind earth worms in the soil but the bug that gives me the creeps are those reddish centipedes. They move so fast when I dig in the soil sometimes. My granddaughter who loves bugs and spiders would be ashamed of her grandmother.

Kim, only one cookie? You are a tough cookie yourself for controlling your cookie urges. Hang in there. You're doing great.

My rug has been put away for gardening season. I'm already getting a tan in the short time that the sun came out this spring.
    Have a great weekend. JB

  5. How did you possibly stop at one cookie? I literally could adopt a cookie diet, if I let myself. I don't mind bugs all that much...except for roaches which I had in my first appt. when I was first out of college...yuck! You'd turn on the light and there would be so many scattering around. Not good at all! Can't wait to see your little mat. I haven't hooked since the hook-in. Terrible! But, there is a lot going on...
    Have a splendid weekend!

  6. Hi Kim... I have been in a slump also with rug hooking, but today I finally picked up a hook and started working on my rug.... I have to get it done because you soon swimming season...

Kim, you can never have enough camera lenses. This is from a person that has about six cameras and an a lot of lenses for them... I know it is time for me to get rid of some, but I just cannot part with them.... My first one is about 40 years old and still takes awesome pictures.... And I have so many lenses for that one I can't even carry the bag....

How did you stop at one cookie, what is your secret?
    Have a great weekend!

  7. Zip just came in from outside and said 'the June bugs are out!!!'. Yuck, crunch, yuck!!! And we have the earwigs too, and the Stink Bugs! Spring finally arrives and the insect invasion begins!
Can't wait to see your new pattern. Should be lots of fun.
I am so envious that you are taking photography lessons. How can you have too many lenses??? That's almost as bad as too many shoes.

  8. You have that many June bugs? We have a few but never like that. But the ear wigs are about to carry us away. I have never seen so many.
I do hope you get your mojo back but I think it is you just need lots and lots of vitamin D so stay outside and enjoy it.
    Have a lovely weekend.

  12. One cookie's not so bad! If you totally deny yourself, you're setting yourself up to fail :) You can do it!

I look forward to seeing your new mat! Thanks again for the followers! I'm up to 11 now :)

  14. Thanks a bunch, Kim. I had pleasantly put the thought of June bugs out of my mind in my heady anticipation of spring (yes - still anticipation here in Nod - not so much in reality yet....greening up, but no real warmth...and now I fear the 40 days of rain have commenced....) Hate those critters with a passion - and their creepy counterparts, the grub - equally so. But I say, I'll take a June bug over a slug I think. Hope you get your hooking mojo back - mine's been MIA for a while now. Think I might have to do a progress posting on the blog to make myself a little more accountable....Have a great weekend! Smiles & Hugs, Robin

  15. Kim ~
Here's hoping the hooking mojo returns. I was so glad when mine finally did!
You already take such great pictures. After your class, you will put all of us (well, most of us) to shame.
Not a real fan of bugs (but the snakes don't bother me...tehe). At work today we found our resident mouser Sam playing with centipedes on 3 occasions. Not those are really creepy!
    Pug hugs :)
