Chats on the Porch

Today I am joining up with Patrice (and Wendell) for the weekly Chats on the Farmhouse Porch hosted at Everyday Ruralty.

Before we get to the questions just a little update on the latest rug hooking project.  Remember I mentioned I was probably not going to have enough orange wool to finish the big pumpkin?   Well, the more I looked at it next to the green plaid pumpkin, the more I didn't like Mr. Orange.   It was just "too" orange if you know what I mean.

So last night when I got home from work I ripped it all out and am starting over.  I will show you in a few days.  I much prefer my 2nd choice in wool.  As much as I hate re-hooking something I have already done, it is a great pattern and I don't want to ruin it with a bad color choice.

Anyway, on to the questions:

QUESTIONS
  1. Do you prefer to wash dishes by machine or by hand? If you tell me you don't wash dishes, I will cry, but secretly want to be like you when I grow up!
Believe it or not, I prefer to hand wash the dishes.  For some reason I find it kind of therapeutic and soothing.  For years we had a dishwasher and used it a handful of times (literally).  After awhile I used it to store boxes of tea and napkins :)

2.  Who has been the biggest inspiration to you?

My Mom, for countless reasons.  She has had many struggles, even before the Alzheimers but always showed me a person who was stronger than she looked.

3.  Have you been to any fall festivals or local fairs? Will you be going to any?

Every year I say I am going to the big corn maze in a nearby community.  Maybe this will be the year.

4.   Bath or shower?

BATH,  a long relaxing soak in the tub.  Somedays its the only quiet time I get.

5.  Tell me something interesting you learned from a blog recently. Please:)

Gee Patrice, that is a hard one.  Since I have discovered blogging I have learned so much from so many wonderful people.

  6. Kim ~
Your mom is so blessed to have you for a daughter!
Now the bath vs. shower thing. The last bath I took was when I was in labor MANY years ago!
If I ever re-do my kitchen, I will definitely get a dishwasher ~ not that I cook much...lol...but I can hide my dirty dishes there.
    Hugs :)

I'm with you on the baths and hand washing dishes.
You have to do the corn maze, it's so much fun. Just be sure you have someone with you when you get lost!! It's a lot less scary that way.

  11. Hmmmmm....a few of your answers threw me for a loop this time. How can anything (especially pumpkins) be too orangey? Ok....that wasn't one of your "answers..."but still??? As for the handwashing vs. dishwasher washing.....ummmm....any time you need some more therapy, come on over - you're more than likely to find some ready and waiting for you! ;o But I agree - sweet, and powerful, answer to No. 2. 12. I'm sure your mom thinks you're an inspiration! She's your teacher, and you're her awesome student. I don't mind doing a few dishes by hand, but if the pile is growing the dishwasher is running! Have a blessed rest of your week.
