A Sassy Sunday

It has been a lovely day. Auntie was urged to take a day off. We shoo'ed her out to the beach with some cousins. That meant I had a day alone with my 2 favorite girls - Mom and Miss Millie. Despite urgings for all of us to go, I believe my response was something like "I'd rather poke myself repeatedly with a sharp stick". :) We all needed a break.

Now don't get me wrong, I love Auntie to bits and I would never have been able to keep Mom cared for at home this long without her.......But that woman could make a glass of water complicated! When she left to go to the beach the stress level in the house dropped to zero. Just sayin'

She's home now and it appears we all had a great day. And I got a great start on the Sassy Sunflower pattern. (Red House Wool Studio)

This photo was taken mid afternoon. I've hooked more since then. When you love a project it seems to hook up more quickly.

One more day off. Maybe I can finish it??

  2. Kim, I'm so glad that you had a wonderful day without stress, just being with your Mom and Millie.
Your new rug is looking mighty smart. You seem to be a little more adventurous with your new pattern I think or more creative. It looks splendid so far.

I really have to get back to hooking. You are putting me to shame... I need to dye some wool a dirty white to hook my little school and I think that's why I'm stuck. So far I didn't took the time to dye in the day light.

Have yourself a relaxing Labor Day weekend.

    Hugs, JB

  3. It looks great!!! I finished mine today and steamed it. It was a fun rug to hook.
I am glad you got to have a nice day at home with your Mom. Some days you just need that. I am also so glad you are off tomorrow too. It is always nice to get caught up with you.

  4. Kim,
It's so fun seeing the colors you've picked for the pattern! Loving them all so far!! I'm glad to hear you are having fun with it too! I remember a while back someone who ordered that pattern from me was going to incorporate some beadwork into the rug...... doesn't that sound like fun?! I've never worked with anything like that in my rugs.... maybe it's time for me to start getting more creative!! LOL!
Auntie deserves a break too I'm sure! You girls are so good to be taking care of your Mom and keeping her at home. Bless your hearts and you keep right on enjoying the holiday!
Can't wait to see more of "Sassy"!
    Hugs!!!

  6. LOL You've reminded me of my grandmum who used to say
"some people dither/debate over such things as simple as drawing in their next breath"!(then she would frown just a bit and shake her head). Always followed by "a soul can only share so much time with such a person without a bit of a break". I always wondered who she was thinking of when she uttered those words.... So a bit of an Auntie break and some easy time is good :-)

Can not wait to see the finished hook - sooo lovely thus far!

  15. Arghhh...I SOOOO need to hook (or punch, or stitch, or SOMETHING!) If I just didn't have to spend hours watering each night.....(NOTE - storm has not yet arrived, although it is thundering pretty good and I am at the computer rather than watering....ever the optimist....) Yours, the Midnight Gardener....Robin
