Gobble Gobble

This weekend is the Canadian Thanksgiving.  It is a time to celebrate the bounty of the Harvest and enjoy it with family.  It is my favorite holiday of the year.
There is no commercialism - decorations are generally from the earth - there is no crazy mad rush to shop for gifts that people don't need - All that matters is being with family and eating!

And that is what I did today - EAT and EAT some more.  I could hardly lift my over-stuffed butt off the sofa to make this post!  LOL

I usually try to make a special breakfast when it is a holiday so this morning we started with Eggs Benedict with smoked salmon.   Then the main event - Roast Turkey, mashed potatoes, squash, turnip and carrots in a brown sugar glaze and cranberry sauce.  Not the real kind - the yucky lumpy kind ------we like the jellied version in the can - you know the one that comes out in a big plop in the bowl.  LOL    Yes, we are real connoisseurs!    And of course, pumpkin pie.

Ugggh, I felt like a big lump when we were finished so I forced myself to go for a little walk around the local cemetery.  The sun was just starting to drop.   Here are a few photos.
I hope you all had a Thankful Day!

  1. Kim, your pictures are so good. You shoot like a pro. I'm still struggling with my camera. It is so complicated and I'm having some problems with retrieving my photos for my blog so I need to learn more.

Your Thanksgiving dinner is so tempting. We're having ours tomorrow. Happy Thanksgiving Kim.

  5. I too would have curled up on the sofa for a thanksgiving nap. But I bet a walk felt better.
Now do you go right into christmas shopping or do you get a brake untill after halloween?
Thank you for taking time out of your holiday to visit my blog. I was happpy to share all the rugs. I think they all deserve a blue ribbon we know how much work goes into them.

  6. Happy Thanksgiving Kim! Makes me want turkey for dinner. I might just see if I can find one this week or should I wait until the end of November when we celebrate Thanksgiving in the US? Turkey isn't just for Thanksgiving you know!

Beautiful pictures! I do love the colors of the Autumn trees right now. I took a few yesterday and today that I'll be posting soon.

    Have a Great Week!
