Meet Me On Monday

Blogging  is a funny thing...we tell our most intimate thoughts for all to read  and yet most of the time I find myself sitting and wondering, "who is  this person!?"  I know them...but yet I don't know them!  I want  to know who the person is behind all those words so I thought of a great  way for all of us to "meet" each other!

Every Sunday Never Growing Old will post five get to know you  questions that you can copy and paste into your own Monday post and we  can all learn a little more about each and every one of us!!

1.  I really need to clean my __________?

My closet.  It is a disaster.  I can never find anything, especially in the morning when I am not the brightest.  In case you are wondering - this photo is NOT my closet.  Well, only in my dreams.

2. What food makes you think of Christmas ?

Gumdrop cake.  I love it.  When I was a kid I would only pick out the gumdrops and leave the cake part.  Then someone gave us a recipe for cream cheese gumdrop cake.  Mmmmmm.   And family legend says we only use a very few green gumdrops.  I don't know why but it was Grandma's rule and she was a good cook so I listened to her.  But everytime I make one I wonder why . . . . ??   Has anyone else ever heard of that ??

3. If you could choose to stay a certain age forever, what age would it be ?

Now that's a tough one.   Sure, I used to be thinner, prettier, no gray hair or teeny wrinkles but I am smarter now and I know more so I would not trade a few gray hairs for that.   I don't want to get stuck.  I want to keep changing and growing and evolving.  I know I could kick my 30 year old ass in a number of categories now.  :)

4. What was your first paying job ?

At the age of 16 I got a part time - after school job as a cashier at a Department Store.   Luckily I didn't experience the "Black Friday" phenomenon back then.  The closest to that craziness I witnessed was grown women rolling around on the floor in a heap fighting over Cabbage Dolls.  Yes it was the early 80's.   Sad !

5. Have you read the Twilight Series ?

No.  I think I am the only person left who hasn't read it.  I have the first two books but they sit on my bookshelf in a pile of other un-read books.

If you get a chance, check out some of the other participants in todays Meet Me on Monday linky.  Click on the link on my sidebar.

  2. I liked getting to know you better - would love to see a picture of you. I have you with dark hair and young and when you said gray and wrinkles I was surprised - that is me!

  3. You are just so cute. I would love a closet like that too. It looks like it might be the size of my whole bedroom. I don't have that many clothes either.
Really, they got in a fight over a Cabbage Patch doll? Wow, ugly things.
Oh come on read Twilight. I was so skeptical about it too. Ems kept begging me so I did, I mean it's not Harry Potter, but the books are better than the movies.
Well have a great day, I hope it isn't as long as it could be.
    Happy Monday!

  4. I wonder why no, or very few, green gumdrops. Maybe she didn't like them.

  5. Well, I have seen pictures of you and there certainly wasn't any gray hair or wrinkles that could be seen!
No Twilight books here. Just don't think I could get into that. Maybe OK for my 16-year-old G-daughter, but geez-louise, I'd rather hook.

  6. Gumdrop cake looks yummy! That was fun learning how you worked at a dept store and the cabbage patch dolls. I remember getting them for my daughter and how crazy that was!

  7. Oh my, I'd like a big closet like that and it would probably be filled with wool instead of clothes.
Interesting about the gum drop cake.

I never read Twilight but saw some TV series years ago.

I think that you're pretty and you look very well put together and I didn't noticed and wrinkles. JB

  9. The cake reminded me of fruitcake and I don't like the green things in fruitcake so maybe that's why your Grandma didn't use them..maybe she just didn't like the green ones! It was fun getting to know you better. Although I almost had to hate you because I was getting closet envy..until you fessed up that that wasn't yours! Now I love you again!

  10. I love this! I never clean my car...gross, I know!
I have read Twilight...but then I like a vampire...since Buffy the Vampire Slayer sucked me in...so to speak!
Gumdrop cake is brand new to me...but I can be talked into any cake!!
Don't you wish we could all have a great reunion weekend?

  11. I need to clean my guest bedroom which has become the catch-all for everything I don't want to deal with right now. Ooh, share the recipe for gumdrop cake - I have never heard of it! I love Christmas cookies! I will freeze them and eat them for months. 35 seemed to be a really good age for me but I turn 50 in January and I think it's going to be a great year! My first paying job was processing books in the summer for the school libraries. I have not read the Twilight books. Wasn't sure if I would like them since vampires freak me out. But, I just saw the first movie which I enjoyed and I am going to watch the other ones too - great scenery and effects.

  12. Oh my, that's my dream closet too. My niece and her husband actually turned one of their bedrooms into a huge giant closet and put a door from their bedroom into it. It is just yummy! I thought I was the only one who hasn't read the twilight series.

  13. I thought the same thing as Julia! That closet would be great for wool!
My cleaning project would have to be the basement! It is probably never going to get cleaned unless I die and the hubby calls the Hoarder t.v. show!
I've heard of the twilight zone.....
Gumdrop cake looks delicious and the sourcream version must be heavenly!
Enjoyed getting to know more about you and I know you are lying about the gray hair and wrinkles! Isn't it usually the other way around? LOL!

  15. Ok....now I have closet envy. Thanks a lot. And am I the only one out here who hasn't seen a photo of you? Guess I'm going to have to set some time aside and go back through all your posts that I missed before I became a follower huh? Wish I could join this linky party - but, alas, I shouldn't even be doing what I'm doing now - and I have some catch up posting to do the way it is. But, I have to change out my son's ice packs in another hour or two so it doesn't pay to go to bed, and I'm too tired to read the US Constitution, so I opted for blogging. Hey - my story and I'm sticking to it. Hope your week is off to a good start....Smiles & Hugs ~ Robin (Gumdrop cake? Really???) ;o)

  16. Whew! - For a minute there I thought that WAS your closet, and I was consumed with envy. Can you imagine what that would be like? Yes, I can, and I want one.
