Last night was a blast. We had a great time at Sandy's party and the Parade was lovely. And before you ask - Santa was all lit up. Not in our "Baileys" kind of way - his float was covered in tons of twinkly lights. Murphy's Law was visiting someone else last night. :)
However the weather has taken a turn today with gale force winds and scattered rain showers. It is so windy I am considering putting ankle weights on Millie the next time she has to go out to pee.
This morning I got busy and finished binding the last of the 4 little holiday rugs. Woohoo. You have only seen a sneak peek of the final rug. Here is Joy
I decided to whip the border on this one. I could not find the off - white whipping yarn. I am sure I have a half a ball left but I couldn't find it anywhere. So I decided to try something different and whip with a contrast color. It was either that or put it aside to sit with all the other unfinished projects. And I did promise to bind all four rugs. This soft green was a ball of Bernat Roving yarn. Very soft and pretty but I would not recomment it for whipping. It broke and frayed so easily. But in true stubborn fashion, I kept going.
Sweet little mat and I detect a little red sparkly wool ~ my favorite!! Glad Santa was lit and not you!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful. I like the contrasting whipped edge! I use my homespun yarn for my whipping...it makes my rugs even more rustic...LOL!
ReplyDeleteWhat beautiful work you do!!
ReplyDeleteIt looks so nice and pretty. We are having a lovely cold, rainy day. We will be getting winds later in the day. You of course would laugh at our storms compared to yours. If you were here you would call our day a disturbance. :)
ReplyDeleteIt is nice to be inside with a fire going though.
I love your rugs, they always looks so happy.
Have a lovely day,
I thought of you when I was at the craft store the other day, as I pondered if this was indeed the hobby for me!?!? Love your work!
ReplyDeleteAh Kim, you are getting to be quite an artsy girl. Your little rugs are all so cheery and festive and this Joy one is just beautiful as all your rugs are.
ReplyDeleteI need to leave the computer alone for a week to catch up on my friggin quilt so I can get back to hooking.
A promise is a promise. I have to finish quilting first. Here the weather is wet and gloomy. Hope that your week is festive. I love your beautiful little town and feast my eyes every time I go through it. JB
Hi Kim, I feel like a broken record I love all your rugs! Hugs Cheri
ReplyDeleteI love it! I still love that snowman one the best, but this is coming in a very close second..or first in a half...whatever! Glad you had a good time at the parade. Hooray for Santa!
ReplyDeleteVery cute little mat Kim, just puts one in a festive mood. Please don't let sweet little Millie blow away! today's temps were in the mid sixties, very strange but a good day for drying sheets! Have a great week, Julie.
ReplyDeleteWoo Hoo!! Another finish - and another delightful ruglet - I don't know how you exactly do it, but you sure hook "happy" better than anyone I've ever known....Glad to hear Santa made it to town unsinged this year! Have a great week ahead! Smiles & Hugs ~ Robin
ReplyDeleteYour rug is great. I like the red sparkling yarn you used. I Can't wait to see your others.
ReplyDeleteThe green binding frames the rug nicely. Woohoo, another project finished. Sounds like you have the perfect indoor weather for hooking and stuff.
ReplyDeleteVery simple, but awesome just the same! Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours this week.
ReplyDeleteHow nice! That is beautiful!

Oh, I was hoping we would hear from you. There were so many festivities going on. Glad Santa made it down the street okay this year and it sounds like the weather held out for it. Don't lie Millie fly away; a weighed jacket might be helpful (ha!). You just delight me with your craft. The Joy rug will make someone very happy. How nice it must be to have that crafting ability.

ReplyDeleteI came by tonight to check on you dear friend and to also thank you from the bottom of my heart for your dear sweet comments about Christi and myself.
It has been a very horrible ordeal and one day soon I will write you about it.
Your such a blessing in my life and how grateful I am to have you as a dear friend.
Sending you much love and lots of happiness this Holiday season
