Spring at last

I think it's finally safe to say that Spring is here to stay.  (I hope I didn't just jinx it).

It was a wonderful Spring weekend.  Saturday was very nice but today was even better.  Sunny and warm temperatures.  I took a leap of faith and moved the snow shovels and salt bucket from the sun porch to the basement.

The only flaw to the weekend was that I frittered my Saturday away doing nothing.  Did you ever have one of those days that just slips away on you?   I got nothing accomplished and I don't know why.  And then I frittered away the evening watching movies.  Dirty Dancing and Mama Mia were on back-to-back and no matter how often they are on I can't seem to tear myself away from them.

So that meant that today I had no choice but to catch up on the chores.  Laundry, vacuuming ( my least favorite chore) and we had company for supper so I roasted a chicken with all the vegetables.  It was already defrosted or else I might have changed things up to do the first barbeque of the season.  Maybe next weekend.  I won't make the same mistake next weekend if the weather forecast looks good.  I'll get all the chores done Friday night so I can enjoy the weekend.

And now that all the shovels and winter crap have been removed from the sun porch I am on a mission to get it spruced up.  It kind of becomes a dumping ground  all winter.  I love reading out there in the sun and we often have lunch out there when the weather gets warm.  It's really the only spring cleaning I look forward to.

  3. So glad Spring has finally arrived. It truly was a beautiful weekend, but tomorrow is expected to be a lot nicer at around 80 degrees. I never accomplish half of what I should on the weekend.

  4. I think personally you needed a day to fritter away. I am so glad you had such a nice spring day. I would watch those movies too. At least it wasn't Duck Tales. :)
I hope you have a lovely week and every day is spring.

  5. Kim, your blog looks so springy and fresh.

Looking back on your Saturday, I think that you don't have to beat yourself on the head for taking it easy and just let it all wait for later. It's quite OK to do that once in a while. There will be plenty of time for BBQ later.

Your supper sounds delicious and it reminds me of Sundays suppers of long ago when it was customary to have roasted chicken on Sundays with potatoes and vegetable and gravy.

I saw my first two robins yesterday so I think that Spring is here to stay. I think that it appropriate to put the winter implements away until the next winter, I don't even want to think about it... JB

  6. Kim, the gingersnaps are store bought, sigh. I'm not always on top of things here. When the cookie jar is empty my husband will buy gingersnaps or oatmeal cookies. he's got a sweet tooth to fill. JB

  9. It's okay to have a lazy day every once in awhile. It's good to take a break. There are plenty of other days to get stuff done. I couldn't pass on those movies either. I'm hooked on them too.

  10. Weekends always go by so fast! I've had those days that just slip away... it's the mind and body saying "I need a break".... so, it's good to give in and relax! I love the idea of lunch on the sunporch! :-)

  11. Why do we beat ourselves up over a frittered day? I think they are some kind of cosmic therapy and that is why they only happen once in a while - we need them. Loved the Maxine cartoon and I am right up there with you on Dirty Dancing and Mama Mia - we are definitely Hollywood Sisters.

Happy Spring - your image was beautiful.

  12. Spring sprung here also. I think it does the heart good to "waste"a day. I find it recharges my batteries so I can do that spring cleaning.
