Sunday assembly lines and long distance coffees

There is a saying around these parts that if you don't like the weather, wait an hour and it will change.

Today it started out grey and extremely windy.  After lunch the rain came and it came in sheets.  Around 4pm it was bright and sunny.  Weird....

I did get back to hooking this weekend.  I didn't get much accomplished last week.  I think part of the reason is that I am bored with my current project.  I have been working on a few of those hooked sachets.  I didn't want to waste any of the excess rug warp by cutting it so I decided to fill the entire piece with them.  But I really want to get to something else so I'm not really motivated to finish.
Instead of a fun project, its starting to feel more like an assembly line.  One after the other - the same old thing.  Yuck.....   Just two left (yippee) and then the tedious task of finishing.  Blah.....   I'm not sure why I'm in such a hurry because I really don't have a specific project in mind.   I am expected my copy of Primitive Quilts and Projects magazine this week so I'm sure I will get inspired.  The reviews have been great so far.

This morning I had a long distance coffee with my friend Kim - via email.  We email back and forth and its just like we are sitting at some kitchen table chatting about nothing and everything.
Its been kind of a joke between us about random ramblings.  And if you read any of our emails you would understand.  We hop from topic to topic with no rhyme or reason.  But I smile everytime I see one pop up in my inbox.

Tonight I'm going to try and finish the last 2 sachets and then get to bed a little early.  Tomorrow is one of my long days at work.  Another reason not to like Mondays!

Ohh, I almost forgot.....Thanks you all so much for the lovely comments and messages for Mom's birthday post.  You are all so sweet and they meant alot to me and I'm sure they would have meant alot to her also.

  1. Well I did laugh because it is nice to sit and have coffee with you. Someday it will be in person. :) I like your little projects. They are turning out nice too. I am waiting for my magazine too. I am hoping it comes this week. I have went to the mail box every day since I saw people posting about them. Hoping it will be there. I can't wait for you to get yours too.
I did pick up a Create and Decorate today and was a bit disappointed.
    Have a great Monday,

  2. That's a great idea, having coffee together by email!
Those little sachets are really cute, but I can see how they could get tedious, especially the sewing together.
BTW, that is one of my favorite 'Lucy' episodes. I love at the end where they have chocolate candies stuck to their boobs!

  3. Kim,
I really like your new project! what are you going to use as the 'filler'? I also had to laugh becuase we were just talking about that episode of I love Lucy yesterday during the storm!
    too funny!

  4. Kim ~
Your little sachets are going to be very sweet. I would have a real problem with finishing them. You know how I hate the finishing process :(
I think I am in the minority, but I was disappointed in the new magazine. I do not quilt and I'd say 75% of the magazine is quilting/applique. I know some could be adapted to hooking/punching.... There was one hooked project, one punch needle, no cross stitch. Just MHO.
    Hugs :)

  5. The sachets are very cute...but I would also be antsy to move on! I haven't sent for the magazine yet, but plan to soon. Hope you find a cool project to get the juices flowing.
    Have a good week,

  6. Kim, I thought that you were making those cute little sachets for the Pay it Forward chain project. I thought that you were so generous to put all that work into this project and although it started like wild fire, it kind of fizzled out as far as I can see because I haven't heard any feed back from anyone on this.

Any way, I love your little sachets. I thinK that a cute little bling ribbon would look just fine on them.

I'm glad that you and Kim had long distance coffee together. It beats going out all the way to California in the rain for coffee with a friend.

I Love Lucy was one of my favorite show along with Carol Burnett. I remember that episode of working in the chocolate factory and the chocolate were coming faster than they could handle.

Have a super week. I think that Monday will be better than Tuesday for me because Tuesday is squeeze boob day for me. JB

  7. Kim, the sachets are sweet, but I can tell time consuming. I so enjoy the hooking part of a project, but the binding, not at all. I guess that is why I have so many unfinished projects. We experienced heavy wind and rain throughout the night, but by late morning the sun was shining. The yard is finally "greening up" and I noticed bluebirds working on their nests in our bluebird boxes. Oh and the peepers are singing! Hurrah, spring is here. Have a good week, your friend from Maine, Julie

  8. That is what my Sherry-sis & I do ... nearly every single day. Sorry I missed your Mother's bday party ... please send her my best wishes.

    Have a beautiful week~
    TTFN ~

  9. Your weather echoes ours...but I'm looking forward to Easter and hopefully it will be nice. I hate when I start projects then find out they are not making me smile! Hope yours goes quickly. They look really cute, but not being a hooker, I'm clueless! Have a good Monday even though it too sounds like a project that won't make you smile!

  10. I know what you mean about the weather changing from minute to minute! lol It's been crazy around here lately too.

    Have a Great Day!

  11. Hi Kim, You get so much done I am impressed! Cheri

  12. Those sachets are looking wonderful! I forget... were you making them to sell? I thought my copy of Primitive Quilts and Projects would have arrived last week... not yet though. I have heard so many great reviews I am really anxious to see it already! lol! I think that technology is wonderful when it helps us to find kindred spirits we would otherwise never have known... that cup of coffee was sure good, I bet! :-)

  13. Love the sachets - do finish them. Finishing is a tedious job but so worth it. Have a wonderful week.

  14. I know that assembly line feeling well. I'm on the background of mine, and even though I love the color, it's feeling rather never ending. That Lucy show is one of my favorites! Our principal would show that at teacher's meetings. In the respect that there just isn't enough time to get it all done. No one could hit it home like Lucy!
