I picked her up at the airport and almost the moment her plane touched down - it started to rain. Murphy's Law. But as long as it is just for one day (it was) its OK to have a rain day at the beach.
We got caught up on all the news and family gossip/drama.
The sun was back today so I took the Golden Girls out to the beach and we all had a barbeque. Well........not exactly. The barbeque caught fire. Not a tiny fire either. Huge flames shooting out the top, bottom and sides. Nothing like a little drama! Luckily no one was hurt and we ended up cooking the meat on the electric grill.
Here are a few shots of the beach as the tide comes in over the rocks. The shoreline has been dramatically changed this year as a result of that terrible storm surge last November. But it still feels great to sit on the bank with Jane and laugh and listen to the sound of the waves lapping on the shore.
Here she is talking to her hubby on the phone. She was not a cooperative model. She told me if I took a picture of her she would throw me over the bank. LOL So I took one when she wasn't looking, because I think she might have thrown me over. I think about 40 years ago, it did happen but it was one of the boys. :) Its funny, when we get together at the beach where we grew up, we instantly revert to 12 years old.
P.S. I should mention I did wear a bra all weekend :).
ReplyDeleteHaha that is so funny, you wore a bra all weekend. I am so glad you are having fun at the beach. It sounds like a really fun time.
ReplyDeleteI hope this week is just as fun. :)
Hugs my friend.

ReplyDeleteHow nice your sister was able to join you. I just love when you refer to mom and auntie as the Golden Girls. It always brings a smile to my face.
Being near the water is just so soothing for the soul!
Pug hugs :)

How nice that your sister could join you! Having 3 younger brothers, I've wondered all my life what it would be like to have a sister. The beach photos look so relaxing. Glad you are having a wonderful family time!!
ReplyDeleteSounds like fun Miss Kim - and that you have a comfortable and loving relationship with your sis...Are you off all week or commuting?? Love the beach photos - gives me that "wish-I-were-there" feeling....I guess it's a lonely week with the bra on, huh? ;o) Smiles & Hugs - and wishes for a wonderful week ahead ~ Robin
ReplyDeleteThe ocean is the best, isn't it? I grew up along the coast. Sounds like a great week you're having. Enjoy every minute!

Kim, you make me laugh, about wearing a bra all weekend, he,he, he...
ReplyDeleteWow, that's really scary about the BBQ catching fire. I'm glad that you were not hurt. I'm using an old fashion Hibachi with charcoal and I like the flavor better.
This is turning out to be a relaxing time for you at the beach and I wish I could join you. Nothing like the salt air and the lapping of the waves on the shore to relax you. Too bad that your "girls" aren't allowed to relax on the beach though just because of that encounter with that male neighbour. lol...
Have a good week. Hugs. JB
Hi kim, What a great time with family! How fun to have a sister visiting. Cheri
ReplyDeleteHow fun. I really like your photos, especially the one of the water with the plants in the immediate foreground...the colors in the water are beautiful...inspiration for a mat, maybe?
