A New Year Mystery

I stayed in last night and the highlight of New Years Eve was skyping with Baby Emerson in the Netherlands.  He is usually sleeping when I call (those 2 month olds are so lazy).  But last night he was wide awake and ready to party.  He has grown so much.  It is so amazing to be able to video chat half way around the world.    Then I fell asleep on the sofa.  I am a PAR-TAY  ANIMAL.

This morning I got up with the mission to wipe out Christmas decor from the house.  I'll probably find the odd nick-nack here or there for a few days but I think I made a pretty good sweep of the house.  Countless treks up and down the ricketty basement steps and super-hero feats of strength as I lifted large heavy totes up on the high shelves.  I was really missing the handy-man today.

Then sometime later in the afternoon (here is the mystery part) I got up from the sofa and my right foot hurt.  Each step a little worse.  ? ? ?   So, what happened . . .   I have no idea.  And before you say it - I had nothing to drink last night or today.   How can it be that you can barely walk on your foot and have absolutely no memory of hurting it ?

I don't know what happened but I can hardly put any weight on it tonight and the top and side and kind of burning a little now.  Sheesh.    I mean seriously, how can you hurt your foot by doing nothing?  I'm hobbling around tonight like I'm a 90 year old.

And not only am I starting the new year lame, I am also starting out looking like a sexy beast

Don't ya just love the sexy red jammies and super-hot purple socks.  I mean  really - - - - Lol

The outfit is partly due to the fact that it is just so darn comfortable but also because I did not do laundry today.  I read on someone's blog recently (sorry, I forget which one) that it is bad luck to do laundry on New Years Day.  Has anyone ever heard of this before ?   I didn't want to take any chances - my foot might actually fall off

  2. Ok, I'm not a Doc and I haven't stayed at a Holiday Inn, but it sounds like you tore a tendon that runs along the side of your foot. I know you didn't do anything to have that happen, but it can just happen on it's own..mine did. It will hurt for a long time, but it will get better. Now, like I said I may be off the wall, so see a real Doc if it doesn't go away....hope that helps and I hope you have a great 2012..Happy New Year!

  3. Hi Kim,
First I have to say those jammies and socks are way too cute and look mighty comfy! It doesn't take much to strain something in the foot esp. if you've been up and down a ladder! Take care of yourself and maybe try soaking in some epsom salts...... hope it clears up quickly! Keep us posted!
( hope the New Year gets off to a better start tomorrow and maybe the higher powers will grant you a new handyman this year!)
    Hugs!

  5. Kim ~
I am shocked. I had you pegged as a par-tay girl!
Like Alice, I'm in big trouble! I did not, one but two loads of laundry!!!
I hope you didn't end up with a stress fracture or some such thing. I hope whatever it is heals quickly.
I love your outfit, too. Looks SO comfy.
    Happy New Year, dear friend!!!
    Hugs :)

  6. I will say that I've always heard that whatever you do on New Years you will do all year so I didn't do any laundry! Gee, I half unloaded the dishwasher. I hope I didn't mess that up! I officially didn't cook today either so I think I'm good to be lazy for 2012! lol

I hope your foot gets better soon! I have no idea what could have happened but it might be a good idea to get it checked out since you can't walk on it. Better safe than sorry I always say!

    Happy New Year!

  7. I can never stay up for New Year's Eve. Someone was lighting fireworks early in the evening...so it was fun to watch that, even though it sounded like gun-fire outside my window! LOL

Isn't it unlucky to do laundry at any time? I have always tried to avoid it at all costs! ~grin~

I hope your foot heals up soon.
    Take care.
    Hugs,
    Courtney

  8. Sometimes my foot goes whacky if I'm up and down stairs without shoes. Stay off it awhile and relax... it should heal on it's own... hopefully. I hope the laundry thing is false... i think I did about 4 loads yesterday? Yikes!

  10. Oh No Kim, is it better today. I bet it was going up and down the stairs with lots of heavy things. I hope it gets better. Hey I like your jammys.
Yes, I read that too and I didn't do laundry either. I am not superstitious but who wants to call down fire right? I think it was Empty Nest in Illinois. I had never heard of that either.
Well rest and I hope your foot feels better. I am always hurting myself and not knowing why.
My hair lady always acted like my husband beat me because of the bruises I had, it was from running into the mirrors on my car all of the time. I would forget how I did it.
    Have a great day!

  11. KIM!!! That's what you got for being so efficient and taking down all the Christmas stuff AND putting it back where it belongs!!! Virtue comes at a price!! LOL Seriously, I hope your foot feels better soon. I'm sure you just buggered it up on the stairs somewhere during your day. This, too, shall pass.
I love your socks and pajamas...I take great pride in finding the weirdest around and love them to pieces. My current favorites have sock monkeys on them.

Wishing you all the best for 2012...and going on the journey with you will certainly brighten my year.

  12. I hope your foot feels better soon! It's probably from moving stuff around, so stay off it (if you can) for a bit. You do look like a sexy beast! Very, very nice. ;)

I heard you're also not supposed to spend money, or clean the house, or anything like that lest you're stuck doing it all year. Well, we had to go grocery shopping so oh well! But I also sold a pattern, so maybe that will balance it out? :)

  13. Sorry about your foot! Hope it heals soon! I hate it when things hurt for no reason at all! LOL!!! I'm all for PJ's! I love 'em!

    Happy New Year!

  14. Love the jammies and the socks...the two together=magic!!! Sounds also like when my husband had a bout of tendonitis in his foot out of the clear blue. The dr said advil and ice 20min on, then 20 off....best of luck!
