Around supper time I was cruising around my Facebook news feed, looking for a distraction from some of the "behavioral misdeeds" going on in the hallway outside Mom's room. (Wow, it's like a bad soap opera there somedays). I saw a post from one of my friends who teaches yoga. She was doing a Yin Yoga class this evening. She said "bring your pillow and blanket, it will be a great night to relax and restore...."
Sounds pretty appealing, doesn't it?? I admit, for a few minutes I was intrigued. A pillow.....a blanket.... Relaxing...... Briefly, this is what I envisioned
Or this.....
I momentarily focused just on the word Yin - you know, Ying Yang, balance, etc. Then I remembered the other word.......YOGA
OUCH, that's gotta hurt
I forgot, I DON'T BEND. Plus there is that little quirk I have where I spontaneously say inappropriate things or giggle uncontrollably. (Especially if someone is trying to bend me into a pretzel)
Yeah!! That would work in a yoga class. I tried to convince another friend to go, as a reconnaissance spy for me but she wasn't falling for it either. LOL
Remember ladies, if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is ;)
Well, do tell - how was it? Even though you envision the pretzel move, it is often much more relaxing than that. I've actually dozed off a couple of times! That said, I hope you're coping well, and that life is slowly getting back to a "new normal." And keep giggling - it keeps you sane.
ReplyDeleteOh my, I could never be a pretzel and get up and walk again.....Take Care, Francine.
ReplyDeletehehe.
ReplyDeleteloved this post.
Woolie Hugs
I have been taking a yoga class for about two years now. Best thing I ever did for myself and that first posse you showed is what I live for as it's the last pose in yoga and it last for anywhere from 50 to 10 minutes. Heaven. I bet if you found a yoga instructor that would do basic yoga you would truly enjoy it. You only do to your comfort zone and no more as you don't want to injure yourself. I can never do the poses you showed nor would I ever!! It really helps relax your mind and the time goes by quickly. Something to think about as your life is very stressful. cheers.
ReplyDeleteI could do that first pose for 50 minutes Lol
DeleteJust noticed a bunch of typos in my post. First of all while it may feel like a posse it really is a pose and although I would like it to last 50 minutes it really lasts from 5 minutes to 10. My yoga teacher would have had a good laugh.
ReplyDeleteI don't have that bendable body, either - never have! Our daughters are yoga fans. Guess they don't have my genes.:-)
ReplyDeleteI was just thinking the other day I needed to go back to yoga to get limbered up. I am getting too stiff but of course never most of those moves.
ReplyDeleteI do like the energized feeling it leaves me with.
You make me laugh. Have a wonderful day.
Hi Kim, thank you for your comments on my blog. :) You are sweet. I have left an update there today.
ReplyDeleteWow that looks painful to me lol That would not bend me that would break me. lol
Take care, oxo
Glad your ice is all gone and the Polar Vortex too, lol...
ReplyDeleteI'm an expert at doing the pose in the first picture and believe it or not, I used to be able to do the pose in the last picture when I was much younger.
Somewhere along my life journey, I fell on the ice and hurt my right knee and now it pains me when I try to sit in the Lotus position.
Giggling and laughing is a good de-stresser too. Maybe you don't even need to take Yoga classes to de-sterss. All you need is someone willing to bend you, hahaha.
Hugs,
JB
My body doesn't bend either...sigh.
ReplyDeleteHugs :)
Lauren
Thanks for giving me the de-stressing giggles. :-))
ReplyDeleteNo yogo for me.. : )
ReplyDeletethat cat in the plastic container freaked me out!!!! I need to get to yoga to calm down. JK (about the yoga)
ReplyDeleteCathy
ok....so I nearly peed my pants laughing so hard. I'm with you....thinking of pillows...mats...and rest would love that...but damn that would hurt way too much.
ReplyDeleteThe cat in the box!!!!
So funny....
ReplyDeleteI keep thinking about those yoga classes, but that is as far as it gets here!
Oh, I'm sure I could not do the pretzel; it's all I can do to turn my head!!!
ReplyDeleteI have a friend who is trying yoga for the first time. Wishing her luck!
Yoga looks hard to me!
