I'm getting a little weary of the holidays.  If I lived alone today would be the day I would put everything away.  But then Mom's best friend arrived this afternoon for a visit, bubbling with holiday spirit.  When she took off her boots I had to run for the iPhone and take this pic. (That's what bloggers do, right......take strange pictures) Lol
I should say, I doubt she wears stuff like this everyday but she always makes an effort to try and reach Mom.  She did smile and she talked a bit so I would say the funny socks were effective.  Plus, I didn't know what to blog about today so it was win-win!
I have started playing around with a new rug project.  And wouldn't you know it, I'm in trouble already.  I began hooking the letters and it doesn't feel right.

Luckily this is a long narrow piece of linen, so I've turned it around and I'm trying a different letter style on the other end. Then I can decide which side I like best.
There's a nasty case of turkey overload here. Tomorrow I need to think up some kind of alternative.  Remind me again why I bought a 20 pound turkey for 3 people??  Oh, and sadly the last of the birds-nest cookies are gone.  Sigh.....

  4. Ahh Kim, those socks would bring a smile even on Millie's face. I hope that you were wearing your blogger T-shirt when you took this picture.

A 20 pound turkey should feed 20 people, No wonder you feel turkey overload, lol.
I did catering for the church and we allowed a pound of turkey per person. It's good to have left over. Maybe you can freeze some for casseroles or soup.

Hope the stork wasn't too bad your way.
    Hugs,

  5. What a great lady to wear socks like that for your Mom, not to mention they are just great socks. I think your letters look great by the way. I tried to hook yesterday but I am just not feeling it. I think I need to just move on to something else. I hope you have a nice day today.

  6. Hi Kim, Love the socks, I'm glad your mom enjoyed them, such a simple act for a bit of happiness. In our house we are on ham overload. I just cannot prepare another meal where ham is involved. Have a great weekend, we are awaiting more snow, my snowshoes are calling me for a hike. Happy New Year to you, greetings from Maine, Julie.

  7. I love those socks! I think they would be fun to wear - and to knit. How wonderful that she wore them to bring more cheer and holiday fun.
My chef son made us a delicious beef stew for Christmas dinner. It was a great alternative to turkey. Ad I agree that sometimes the season does seem to go on too long. Thank goodness for New years and a clean sweep. Everything starts fresh on Jan 1.

I was admiring the lettering before I read that it didn't please you. I was taken by the blue and then I wondered what your vision was.
