A trip to the pound

A warm summer day, a beautiful beach-front setting, and a trip to the pound.  A perfect way to play hooky from work.

First stop was the pound - - - The Lobster Pound
(Jane would kill me if she knew I didn't crop her out of this pic)

So many lobsters, so hard to choose

There was also a large bag of mussels that looked too good to pass up
so we grabbed them for appetizers.
Nothing better than sitting on the beach with a cool drink and a big pot of steamed mussels.

Sorry, I didn't think to  take a picture before we ate them.  These are just the shells.
I guess we were hungry mid afternoon.  They were really good :)

We had a perfect beach day.  Oh, and the lobsters were even better than the mussels.  We ate and ate and there is probably enough leftovers to do it again tomorrow!

  1. YUM!
    Keep on havin' fun!
    Hugs :)

  2. It sounds like the perfect day and the perfect way to end a Friday. I am so glad you just hung out at the beach.
I hope you have a lovely day tomorrow too.

  3. Sounds like a wonderful day...and what could be better than lobster for dinner!

  4. Oh my, that all looked and sounded good! You're my kind of girl!

  5. Oh my, that all looked and sounded good! You're my kind of girl!

  6. When I read the title, A Trip to the Pound, I thought it was about looking at dogs and cats for adoption. I guess 'adopting' a lobster is even better! Ha-ha!
    The seafood looks delish!!!
Let me know if you find any more orphaned lobsters that need a home!

  7. It doesn't get any better than lobsters eaten at the beach. Fresh mussels are a favorite of ours too. We like ours cooked with loads of garlic and marinara sauce.

  8. OMG! I would LOVE to have a place like that to get lobsters and fresh seafood!!!

  9. Stop! You are killing me...what a great way to spend a day..beach and eating.

  10. Oh man - pass them on! I love lobster and I haven't had it in so long! Yum yum.

  11. Kim,
Wow! We have to drive an hour to get to anything that even resembles a fresh Lobster around here! Go for it!! Keep havin' FUN!!

  12. Kim, when I first read your post title I thought for sure Miss Millie was going to have a new playmate! Glad you are enjoying summer, how nice to have Big Sis and the relatives visiting. Why the male species has not learned that socks and sandals DO NOT go together is beyond me! Sending greetings from Maine, Julie.

  13. Thought you were going to the Animal Shelter! Different kind of 'pound', I guess! LOL!

  14. Any seafood is luxury to me and lobster is Delux. Enjoy your summer while you can.

About the sandals and socks, I agree that they don't go together. Even Jesus over 2000 years ago didn't wear socks in his sandals.

Sorry about not being around lately. I had trouble leaving comments because of a lousy internet connection.

  15. Two of my favorite foods! I make a mean batch of you have a pitcher of something tasty made up? I'll be right over!

  16. OH YUMMMMM!!! I can't remember when I (if I ever???)had muscles.....oh....I mean mussels....but something tells me I'd love them....(if I remembered.....) But have me dreaming of Jamaican lobster boils..... (No, I haven't eaten yet....yes, I'm still here....and no, I'm NOT that slow of a reader....I just keep getting interrupted with "real" life. :o( ) So glad you snuck in a sneak peak at "Faux Sis...." Somehow, she looks familiar..... ???? Smiles & Hugs ~ Robin (All caught up thinks.....)
