I might have caught it

The Christmas Spirit.  The day didn't start with much spirit but I seem to have quickly caught up.

When I got up this morning I had a sore hip.  I think it is a bit of sciatica acting up.  I'm hoping that maybe it just the way I slept last night and it goes away.    And of course Auntie demanded decided that 2 rooms of curtains HAD to be washed and re-hung today.  I knew if I didn't do it then 1) I would have to listen to her all day or 2) she would climb up and try to do it herself.  And an 80 year old woman climbing up walls and ladders is just a broken hip waiting to happen.   So its done and she is so happy I guess it was worth it.

But as soon as I finished I raced out to do a little shopping (before she thought of more chores for me).   And I actually found a good number of Christmas presents.  It felt good to get a little progress  made.  I was starting to feel the pressure of being behind schedule.

Tonight was our Santa Claus Parade.  It was cold and we had a little snow falling so we decided not to go.  Mom and Auntie couldn't stand outside for that long in the cool damp weather.  But then, just as we finished supper the phone rang and it was Harolds wife.  Their house is right along the parade route and she invited me over.  I thought maybe she was feeling sad, because he loved Christmas so much and they always had a bunch over to watch the parade each year.  So I went over and lots of other friends were there too.   I guess we all had the same idea.  We broke out the hot chocolate and Baileys, bundled up and watched the parade.  I think my first mug was more Baileys than hot chocolate!  Gotta love the way Sandy mixes a drink!!  LOL

It was a good day.   Except I haven't hooked any all weekend.

  1. So glad you had a fun day! Bring on the Baily's! It will make every thing feel better. Now I need to come watch a parade...and some Baileys. Maybe you will get to hook tomorrow.

  2. Way to go Millie's Mom...Lol. So glad that you had a great time and went over to Harold's place to be with your friends and indulge in hot chocolate and Baileys. That's all you needed to set you on your merry way to the Christmas Spirit.

You have been rewarded for making an old woman happy. Hooking is nice but it isn't every thing. I'm not getting much done in that department either. JB

  3. Sounds like a great ending to a hard working day! I hope your sciatica is better. I know too well all about that nasty word.

    Have a Great Day!

  4. Well you at least had a great ending. I love Bailys, I have had it in coffee but never in hot chocolate but I will try it. I actually just had some straight up. MMMM warm all the way to my toes.

  6. Hi Kim,
No,DO NOT allow 80-year-olds off the ground!!!
Last year my Mom who is 84 was up on a chair cleaning out the top cupboards and fell getting back down from the chair. She didn't break anything, but scraped and seriously bruised her shin (a 12-inch long wound) and she couldn't walk for several months. It took forever to heal!
Glad you had a good time at the parade. Nice that friends could get together and enjoy it together.

  8. Kim ~
Glad you caught it. I hope I catch it next week. I have gotten the bulk of my shopping done. I was smart this year and decided I would not gifts made. Last year one gift wasn't done until February, I think.
I haven't hooked yet this weekend, but I did do a little cross stitch and needle punch. I should be hooking because I am getting tired of this rug and want it done now (as I stamp my foot)!
Hope your week starts off well.
    Pug hugs :)
