Last night was the Cancer Society Relay For Life Event. Hundreds gathered at the site for an extremely emotional evening. When the Survivors take that first lap around the track.....its virtually impossible to hold back the tears. I became involved 2 years ago for my dear friend Tim. Now I help his sister honor his memory.
But the truly amazing part is that in one evening over $138,000 was raised. And our town has only 10,000 people! AMAZING, right.....
That is really great!

Good For you Kim, Tim was special.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great way to honor a friend, good for you.
ReplyDeleteI found, after moving to my little town in New Mexico, that I think the smaller community has a much stronger sense of shared support and love than I ever saw in the city...where somehow, it got impersonal over the years as it grew. Thanks for sharing this special day.
ReplyDeleteWhat a bummer. Maybe if you hang on to your Townsend stuff and don't use it, it will be worth more in the future when someone out there collecting that stuff will want it? and then you can buy something else? (PS I really love my Bolivar cutter from NS...no blades to replace...yes!)
