A wet and wild wind and rain storm arrived this morning also. I am fairly confident that by morning there will be no leaves left on any tree.
The storm knocked out power to over half the town. Watching traffic is amazing during a power outage. People manage to competently navigate through 4-way stops all the time, every day. But knock out the traffic lights at an intersection and nobody knows what the heck to do. Jiminy Crickets people.....it's still a 4-way stop!! It was like chaos out there.
That covers the wet and wild - Now for the Whoops! I still can't believe I did this. Talk about Foot-in-Mouth
I stopped into a corner store this morning and saw one of the clerks and then I said it........"Oh, you lightened up your hair" .........she got a funny look on her face and said - "No I didn't. I just haven't colored it lately". Oh Dear Lord......I wished the floor would open up and swallow me. Now, how exactly do you recover from something like that? Should I have said "well, grey becomes you?". This has happened to me before when I was a week or so behind on my color so I know how awkward it is. I think I'm going to have to go to a new store for a few weeks (until she forgets)
I saved the best for last. The Wow.......
The phone bill arrived today. I don't want to talk about it! :(
NOOOOOOOOO! No way is that phonebill still screwed up! We had the wild wind and rain here and I just wanted to go back to bed, by the time I got around to it, the sun was out!
ReplyDeleteCome on!!!!! We are enjoying nice warm weather here, Francine.
ReplyDeleteThat was scary about your mom. I'm glad she seemed better this morning.
ReplyDeleteI just don't get it with this phone bill fiasco! Bless you!
We had wind and rain overnight here, but we still have some lovely color on our trees.
I hope you will have some time over the week-end to take care of YOU!
Nooo was it bad? You will have to tell me about the phone bill.
ReplyDeleteI have done that so many times, Oh well you were just being nice.
Have a nice day, in spite of the weather.,
Oh no not the phone bill again! I am so sorry. we got that wild weather here too. but no lights out. My friend is the town clerk she was greeting voters as we all know each other when she said "oh I didn't know you were pregnant." the answer "I'm not" so my friend trying to dig herself out said oh I am sure it is just the coat you are wearing. the reply " I just bought this coat for a lot of money"
ReplyDeletemy poor friend was beet red and the rest of us had to go to the womens room because we were laughing so hard.
Cathy
Wow, they screwed it up again? Should we be surprised? LOL! After sticking your foot in your mouth you say something like "Oh, really? It looks great!" heh. Sorry your mom is sick! I hope it was a quick thing and nothing serious develops.
ReplyDeleteThat phone bill is a monster that won't go away! Glad your Mom is better. Maybe the store clerk wasn't bothered at all. Don't you hate it when we worry about stuff we do/say and wonder if people are mad at us. Why do we do that to ourselves? Enjoy your Saturday Kim! I think your wind came to visit us today... :)
ReplyDeleteHope you have a better day today! Putting my foot in my mouth used to be a regular thing. ~grin~
ReplyDeleteHere on the farm, we call it Hoof and Mouth disease, ha,ha,ha. Don't feel bad, it can happen to the best of us. I once asked a friend I hadn't seen in quite a while years ago.... Oh, when are you due??? Need I say more? .......
ReplyDeleteIf the phone bill is BAD again, I think that you need to go to smoke signal to communicate. I hope it's not that bad...
Sorry about your poor Mom not feeling well. Maybe her thyroid is out of whack. I'm hot one minute and cold the next.
I hope that your weekend will go smooth. The sun is shining this morning and the rain and wind storm has passed.
Hugs,
JB
Well, at least that's better than asking someone when her baby is due, only t find out she's not pregnant.
ReplyDeleteBless your heart I've had many a foot in mouth episode so know how you felt. And sorry to say that I did laugh out lout because I've been there too. Hope everyone feels better now and can enjoy the rest of the weekend.
ReplyDeleteSaundra
I've done the "when are you do" number to the non-preggo...never again. Even if I see the baby's head crowning, I won't ask! Go ahead and go back to the store and act like nothing happened...just don't look at the clerk. It will be OK. You have enough on your plate to handle! Glad your Mom is OK.
ReplyDeleteOh dear, Lol
