The Knockout Update

Yesterday I tackled the phone company again.  This time I was armed with both account numbers.  I called again (5th time if you're keeping score).

I get a different "help" technician.  (Ha). About 15 seconds into the call I can tell she's not the sharpest knife in the drawer, if you know what I mean.  I give her my phone number and I explain my dilemma of the 2 accounts etc.   She says No, your Internet and phone are on one account.  OK, I'm holding 2 statements with 2 separate account numbers but I decide to play along with her. (Just because I'm mean and their customer service skills are ticking me off).  I won't bore you with the entire exchange about how I DON'T have 2 accounts.  Finally, in disgust I say I just want the phone charge off my credit card and only pay for the Internet.  She says "I'm looking at your account and your Internet is free."

Me:   Free........FREE??
Her:   Yes
Me:  (breathe deeply) well, if its FREE why have I been paying xx dollars for the past several years??
Her:  uhmm .....
Me:  I'm looking at my statement right now........
Her:  (snarky) well what is your account number?
Me:  oh, you mean the account you said didn't exist??  (I know, that was mean but seriously???)

Apparently my problem has been resolved.  Or so she she says.  I will wait to do the happy dance until next months credit card statement arrives.

Sheesh!

  1. Fingers crossed for you. Once it gets screwed up it takes a major miracle to make anything right again. We have been trying to deal with Express Scripts our mail-order pharmacy. Now that's some fun!

  2. Wow. Quite a different experience than I had with my cable company this week. Didn't get a credit that was supposed to be on the bill and within five minutes they had it fixed. Sorry you are having problems.

  5. OMG, doesn't it just wear you out dealing with people like this! I tell you it can really try your patience sometimes. It's a wonder we are not all bald from pulling our hair out during times like these!

  6. So you have to pay for free?
Doesn't it amaze you the incompetence out there? And they are allowed to breed. Scary!
    Have a great weekend.
    Hugs :)

  8. What a nightmare. Life is complicated enough without some idiot making it more complicated than it is. What I want to know is how much is she paid to come up with this scenario.

It would makes me want to crawl under a big rock or pull the little bit of hair I've got left...
Hope that she got your problem fixed instead of compound it.

We are having a deluge here and my ark isn't built yet.
I hope that your Friday friends can make you forget yourproblem for a while.
    Hugs,
    JB

  11. What an ordeal! You should actually receive some sort of credit for the trouble you are having over this!

  12. Ugh. I hate utility tech support. I've always had to do their job for them, over the phone. (Government agencies too, but I won't go there...) I hope it all gets reversed and you don't have to call them again!

  13. I will take utility customer service over internet support any day. I am always transferred to a foreign country and have a hard time understanding them. I hope you get a big fat credit!

  14. I've been having the same battle with my aunt's cable/phone/internet bundle. Same idiots who "help." We are living a parallel existence, Kim - and I'm not enjoying it much!
