This isn't going to end well

I knew it was too good to be true.  I left all the leftover Halloween candy at Aunties.  I thought I was safe.  Then this afternoon I had to stop at the pharmacy to pick up a few things. I casually meandered down the candy aisle and thought I deserved a little treat.  You know, to reward my self control...

I knew it was trouble

I mean honestly.......who can stop at just one of these? (Obviously not me)

Still on the food theme, I don't know why it took me so long to discover the wonders of the slow cooker.  We never had one in our house so I guess I was just didn't appreciate them.  On the weekend this machine is my best friend.  Thow stuff in it in the morning and walk away!

These meatballs came out so tender and juicy.  Not at all dried out like when they are baked in the oven.

The rain continues to pour and the chilly wind is blowing.  But at least it's not snow like poor Julia is getting up in New Brunswick.

Update on the toffifee situation.  By the time I wrote this post the box is empty.  (Yeah, like you didn't see that coming!!). Lol

  1. I'm glad you're not getting snow. It's the wet yucky kind we're getting. Plain slush...

Oh the meatballs looks yummy. I love crock pot meals when I get too busy to prepare regular meals.

Kim, it says in the bible if your eye causes you to sin, plucked it out and I say if the Toffee Chocolates causes you to sin, pluck em out. You did just that, lol. They are gone so they can't cause you to sin anymore, lol.

Stay warm and dry. I'm thinking about poor little Millie having to go out do her little job in this wet weather.

    Hugs,

  2. The slow-cooker has been my friend for many years! I've a great recipe for steel cut oats for overnight!

Twenty-two inches of snow on top of Mt. LeConte in the Smokies as of Saturday afternoon. Our high here today was 50 degrees, but I've no idea how warm it was in the mountains. Stay warm and dry! xo

  3. Never heard of Toffifee but it sounds yummy!
We had sun today - yippee. Cold is easier to take when the sun is shining - at least a little.
    Hugs :)

  4. After icy rain yesterday it was sunny gorgeous today..still chilly, but you can face anything with the sun on your face! I would have given in to the temptation those sweets...today my weakness was m& ms! I like crockpots too, but the new ones seem to cook way to hot..I miss my 40 yr old avocado green crockpot! (It passed away a few years ago)

  5. I haven't used a crock pot in years but I think I still have one in the closet. We don't have any trick or treaters so I don't have to worry about candy. I made a chocolate cake with orange icing. Turns out that is just as bad as candy because we ate the whole thing!

  6. Oh-my-gosh!!! No Crock pot??? I love mine and I do not know how I could have done life without one. Working in all of that cold weather like you do, man I would keep it filled with hot good stuff so when you walk in the door, your little servant on the counter has dinner ready. :) Oh well, me too, I was good all two weeks before Halloween, then boom, candy down the hatch! I have had more snickers, twix and skittles in the last two days than the five years previous.I even threw in some starbursts when I feel peckish. It has been ugly. I am glad you aren't getting snow too, like poor Julia. It got down to 62 and I thought I would freeze to death. My chickens were shivering and the dog was crying. So sad. :) Have a lovely week.

  8. Kim you will have to look up crock pot recipes on Pinterest! You will love it! I use mine all the time... of course not having a stove to cook on led to using it most of the time! Now with the new stove we'll see but the recipes are so tempting!
Yup... me too on the candy... if it's in sight it's as good as gone!! LOL!!
    Hugs!
