It just gets weirder

In the category of "strange but true" - this is my life!   I should have known better than to trust things were working out.  I foolishly bragged about getting Moms new care schedule straight.  Today when I dropped her off at day care they informed me that the day had changed for the added day.  It would be on Tuesdays and Thursdays, not Wednesday.    So now I will have to change her schedule AGAIN.  It will be OK, just another bunch of phone calls and another pain in my arse.

And it seems my Pepe played a little trick on me.  Tonight when I got home from work, my neighbor across the street came out and was trying to get my attention.  To be honest I was tired and not in the mood for neighborly chit chat but she was toddling across the street anyways.

She's saying something about a skunk.  As she got closer I said Yes, I have seen a skunk in my backyard but not for several days.  Noooo, she says -- last night!  She tells me she was looking out her window when I took "the little dog" out to pee.  She says the skunk was in the front yard and while we were "doing our business" the skunk was walking towards us.  She was all flustered and said she thought about yelling at me out the window but was scared she might startle it and it would spray.  She said just as she started to panic, I brought "the little dog" inside.   So now that I think about it, I'm not sure if she was more worried about me getting sprayed or "the little dog".

That bleeping skunk was sneaking up behind me!!   This means war

  1. How disappointing about that skunk! Can you call animal control?

Hopefully all plans for your mom will work smoothly in the future.

  7. Hi Kim, I was praying that you would have a smooth going for a little while, but then it wouldn't be life if you didn't have bumps in the road. Mine was confined to bed today sick, so needless to say we just talked over the phone. I have a craft show this weekend and I don't want to be sick. I don't know how to tell you to solve your skunk problem. Do you have animal control or somebody like that that can help you. Have a wonderful weekend. Many Hugs and Prayers from Your Missouri Friend

  8. Oh, I hope that your schedule smooths out for you! Just the little bit I do for my parents and my aunt gives me a huge appreciation for all that you do for your mom. Hang in there, and stick to your guns - someone needs to be the leader.
As for the skunk. We see them here occasionally, but they don't seem to be as agressive as your little guy. When I worked retail years ago, I had a customer who came home from a vacaion (they lived in Ohio) and a family of skunks had moved in under their house. One bit of noise too much, and everything in the house was ruined. Furniture, mattresses, everything. She called me that night at the store to order a houseful of new bedding. I was so sorry for her, but dang I made a good commission from that sale!

  9. Sorry things didn't worked as planned for your mom's care. It will all work itself out, but I think that the skunk returning to your yard is a bigger worry.
Hope you find a solution soon for peace of mind. Poor little Millie can't even pee in peace.
    Hugs,
    JB

  11. Weird is good. Very good. But that skunk!! What was on its mind as it was stalking you and the little dog?! Creeeeeepy. If it had sprayed you, you could just make yourself all neighborly and go over to HER house multiple times a day and just have the stink assault her senses every time. That'd be a good um. payback?

  12. That skunk has gotta go Kim! Pepe can stink up the house even without spraying. They just carry that stink around with them!!! Just so Pepe doesn't get under your house.

  13. Good luck in The Skunk War! We have "little spotted skunks" here and they are quite friendly little guys, too friendly. And they seem to smell all the time, not just when offended at something, although worse then. A family of the little spotted ones moved into our barn/shop and my husband thought it was amusing to toss some dry dog food their way. UNTIL the morning he found one in the dog food bucket (how it got under the cover I don't know) and it sprayed him. That was the end of skunk feeding!
