Friends and fondue

It's been a few days since I posted. About mid-week the wheels kind of fell off things here. But it's funny how sometimes you get lifted up by friends without them even knowing you needed it. I've been trying to get out of my shell more this last year or so. It's so easy for me to let myself be a hermit.

Friday afternoon I missed a message from a friend wanting to go out for coffee. By the time I checked my phone it was too late, but it was nice knowing she was thinking about me.

Friday night was our Ladies Dinner Club and the theme - FONDUE. F-U-N
I forgot to take a single picture. But as usual it is something I look forward to each month. A collection of friends who always make me laugh. It was a day that helped end a crappy week. (Oh, and the diet was suspended for the evening.)

I'm hooking a bit on my rug tonight and then later I'll catch up on some blogs. And I have caved to peer pressure and downloaded the first episode of Downton Abbey. I need to find out what all the fuss is about.

  2. Hi Kim, I'm so glad that you have friends who are thinking about you and wants to take you out. I don't care to go out either. I remember years ago, I would have jumped at any occasion to go out now I'd rather stay home. My husband is just the opposite of me. He needs people around him all the time. sigh...
You need a tiny camera to hide in your purse for just those special occasions where you don't want to take out the big camera. I hope that you really enjoyed yourself. diet? what diet?...

I'm looking forward to your review on Downton Abbey.

    Have a great weekend.
    HUGS,

  3. Well hey you....long time no comment....argh. Life's been like that. Hope your new year is off to a great start....but that diet thing. ICK. I'm still cleaning up Christmas cookies and fudge. There's a benefit to having a husband and son who aren't big on sweets! ;o) Yes, please do let us know your take on Downtown Abbey...Seems like so many people love it....I, for one, don't even know what it is about. Stay warm and happy....Enjoy what's left of the weekend!! Smiles & Hugs ~ Robin (BTW - Congrats on hitting the 200 mark!) :o)

  5. Hi, Kim,
I know what you mean about being a hermit...I am definitely one. Since losing my hubby 3 years ago, I hardly ever go out. You are lucky to have such a fun group of friends. I started in on Downton Abbey last week too, and really liked it. I just need to catch up with the last two years somehow.

  6. Oh you won't regret it and you will get as hopelessly hooked and the rest of the world. :) I am so glad to know what you have been up too, I wondered where you had been and what you had been doing.
I am glad you have friends like that too. I am also so glad you have your once a month girls to meet with. I hope you have a really nice Sunday.

  7. Kim ~
Glad you could go out and enjoy your "fun"due.
Oh, I could easily be a recluse ~ only going out to hook or buy wool...lol. I just can't picture you as a hermit. I picture you as the party girl.
I have not seen DA, but I hear it is wonderful.
    Hugs :)

  9. Fondue FUN sounds like FUN!! Hope you enjoyed it. I love Downton Abby! I also love "Parenthood"..that's really a well written show. Those are about all I watch on TV. I'm not much on going out. After working all week I really just want to come home and veg for the weekend! Plus in Winter the days are short and when the sun goes down I really hate to go outside in the cold!

  12. Downton Abbey is the BEST!! (When I saw your title "fondue" and the pic of the kittens, I thought maybe you were having kitten with fondue. So glad you didn't. That probably isn't on the diet.)

  13. Hi Kim,
Checking in on your blog...enjoy each and every one. Sorry you had problems with your neck.Love the hooking you are doing now; I'm sure it will be a beauty as always. I like the look of that ribbon; I have some ordered and on the way; anxious to try it.
As for the "DIET"...bad word...I know what you mean. I make a resolution every year and I can't believe how determined I do be to live up to it....then, after three days, I am starving...one would swear I hadn't eaten for a solid month. Groups help a lot...I have done that in my younger years but as you said "I can be a hermit" so very easily. take care..Mom, too

  15. Hi Kim,
You have a new follower. I've reading some on your blog and find it interesting fun.

You've peaked my interest..... I log rugs. Is rug hooking very difficult?

I'm on a diet too.... and I don't like it one little bit.

    Thanks for visiting my blog.

  16. Hi Kim, Hope this new week will be a good one. I watched the first season of Downton Abbey on Netflix this fall and was hooked. I missed the second season but am watching the third. I find it interesting and the pace of it is relaxing. Let us know what you think about it.

  17. I have a women's group I belong to also it really is a soul saver it is good to be with other women.
I watched the 2 hours special of Downton Abbey and really enjoyed it once I figured out who was who. I will watch it again tonight. I am going to hit the library to see if they have season one and two to really get caught up.
I am still having issues with my rug so I have left it for now.
    have a great week
