Light bulb moment

Well, a lot of you have talked about all the great things you did with your extra hour. Ok, I'm not ashamed to admit this - I spent my extra hour sleeping. And, sleeping quite well I might add, with my new fluffy pillows. Yes, it made a difference.

I woke up feeling great.....for about an hour. And then it was back to feeling miserable. I've been complaining for the last 2 weeks about feeling tired and sick. Today was no different, just a little worse. Exhausted, aching all over, zero energy. Usually I can run up the stairs. Today, even if my arse had been of fire there was no way I could sprint the stairs.

And then I had the light bulb moment.....it's my thyroid. Duh! You would think someone with thyroid issues would have put that together long ago!! Suddenly feeling like not the sharpest knife in the drawer!

Years ago I had half my thyroid removed. The doctor told me eventually I would require medication. At the 10 year anniversary he was amazed that the function was still good. Well, that was a few years ago. I think my luck has run out.

I see blood tests in my future. But a little pill is better than this. So today was rather unproductive. It took all my energy to just hold my head up. All I managed was to throw a pot of chili on the stove.

I wanted to make some cornbread to go with it, but that didn't happen. The weather has cooled enough to make me want these types of comfort foods.

That's it for now. Gotta date with my new pillows.

  2. Kim ~
Don't drag your feet (as I would do). See the doc ASAP so you can be your old, bouncy self! That's my motherly advice for the day.
    Hugs :)

  4. I'm sorry you're feeling bad. I have to take that little thyroid pill daily and it's not so bad, so hopefully you'll be 100% soon!

  6. Kim, I am so sorry that you are feeling so bad. Do see if you can see the doctor ASAP. Because it may be something else too. I hope not though.

Maybe after being so busy lately it has finally caught up with you or you could just need some B12 too. Have the Dr check that too and iron levels. :) Ok, I'm done being Dr. Janet. lol

Hope you feel 100 % better soon. I'll be praying for that. :)

Have a good nights sleep. And a relaxing day tomorrow.

    Take care, Janet W

  7. Kim I just had comprehensive blood work done after 5 years of putting it off. Get your blood work done! If you could/would and you aren't too pooped and you have a few minutes could you post your chili recipe. It looks like I would like mine to look, it looks delicious. I am in search of the perfect chili. I am not crazy about all the acid of tomato!

  8. Kim, I'm sorry about the low energy thing. I hope that you get it sorted out soon. Now you are making me concerned with my own thyroid since I got one side removed too due to a large tumor. I can't remember the year but I should look it up in my scrap book because I knew that it was the last time I sang Ave Maria of Schubert at a funeral in our church and the next day I was operated on the thyroid.

    The chilli looks delicious.
Hope that you soon will be frisky as a young puppy.

    Hugs, JB

  9. Well make that appointment. I didn't know that you had that done. Once you get that little pill you will feel so much better. I have a couple of friends that have gone through that and to see the change is wonderful.
Well at least the light came on but then again, you have been over the top busy for so long. It could just be that too.

  10. Kim your thought process 'light-bulb' must be a fluorescent like mine ~ you know, humming and taking time to fully light! roflmao (as opposed to instant-on incandescent
'that's the problem'! bulbs others seem to have :-).

Thyroid sounds to be a likely suspect in the no-enery-ness of it all... Keep us posted on that, K? And in the meantime DO rest as it's also quite possible that all the work you've done with elections, packing, moving, unpacking, reorienting (and the associated angst/pressure/change of all routines) could generate the tiredness. For certain if you strive seriously to rest pre-bloodwork it will help winnow out causes as you search for the cause of the lethargy.

Hugs & hopes for overwhelming energy to soon be yours again!
