A tour anyone?

Our relocation of our Town Hall was quite a big deal around our little small town this past year. People had big opinions on both sides. We renovated a grand old historic building in the middle of downtown.
One of the main goals was to retain as much of the historic character as possible. And I think we did a great job.
Since we've been in now about a week, lots of people are wandering in to look around. Staff have spent a lot of time lately giving impromptu tours. Well, we are proud and want to show it off.

So, if your interested, here is a little mini tour.
The Lobby

I love the ceiling details and light fixtures

Up the marble staircase to the top floor (my office)

Beautiful dark stained woodwork (original), and pebbled windows in the hallway

My office (still a clean, neat desk)

There are still a few workmen around doing finishing touches. We will continue the tour another time.

I'm sorry if I have bored you but I'm just so proud of how we have brought life back to this amazing building.

  3. thanx kim for the tour! its a beautiful building and i love it all! i love the ceilings, lightfix and i love hearing shoes on the marble floors. the woodwork and windows too, also the heavy wood doors with the locks. it reminds me of some of the old building here in town like our post office. i use to work in a cool old building, when i was little we would go visit a nun that lived there. it was a care home. then when i was 15 i went to work there. i heard they are planning to tear it down.. i hope not! thanx again and enjoy your weekend!

  7. What a gorgeous building. I'm so glad to see an old building restored to it's original beauty. So much of what they are building today is cheap and not made to last at all.

  12. It's great that your town has made the decision to restore that stately old building. So much better than tearing down history to put in something new and lacking character.
The architectural details have an elegance that just cant be matched nowdays.
    Love that office!!!
    Thanks for the tour!

  18. It's so nice to see a building preserved and used instead of rebuilding something modern and generic. It also helps the downtown area to stay revived. Good job! Thanks for the tour and I was almost blinded by the shine off that desk!
