What a difference a day makes.....

Well, this was a whole different kind of day.  Today is all about 2 mysteries.  At least I can say things are never dull around here.

It all started out fine.  A nice normal day.  I had a meeting at work first thing in the morning.  For some unexplainable reason I left my cell phone on my desk when I went down the hall.  I always have my phone with me.  I still don't know why I didn't take it to my meeting.   When we finished and I got back to my desk, I saw my house number as a missed call and a voicemail.  Instead of wasting time checking the message I just dialed home.

In an eerily calm voice, Auntie asks if I can run home for a minute.  ??  Yes, I reply - but why?   Her eerily calm voice threw me a bit because you may have picked up from some of my posts, she is a tad bit high strung!  She says "Your mother has fallen and I can't lift her up"    I didn't even ask any questions, just hung up and raced home.  She was on the floor between the bed and the closet.  But before you think she just fell out of bed - She was backwards!  We still can't figure it out.   I checked her from head to toe - twice.  Not a mark or bruise on her and not one tender spot.  We have no idea when it happened, as Auntie found her that way this morning.  And she wasn't trying to get to the bathroom as there were no "accidents".  It is a complete mystery but she seems fine.

Mystery #2 - The dog seems to be crazy too. I may need the services of a dog psychic.  Princess Millie spends every meal time, on her special mat beside me at the table.  (Yes she gets table treats - don't judge)  However, since yesterday she is now "scared" of her mat.  She will not go there no matter what I put on the mat.  Not-even-cheese.......so you know its serious.  She now goes and stands beside the stove and barks and whines.   I have picked her up and put her on the mat and she runs back to the stove.   I have switched the mat for a different one.  Nope - runs back to the stove.

What in the beejeebers is that about??  Seriously, I cannot take another bit of crazy in this house.   I took the afternoon off work.  I met two friends for coffee.   I added some "special" to the coffee.  (Again, don't judge)  There was a flask involved - not mine.  Yes, I have those kinds of friends.  (Thank God!  Lol)

I think I pulled a muscle in my back while lifting Mom.  The "special" coffee tasted good.  I think this may be in my future later tonight........I heard Grey Goose can act like a muscle relaxant. Don't judge.  Its been a mysterious day

  1. You need my hubby's special magic Chiropractic hands to fix that back..then again you might be better with you special brew. The dog mystery is really weird. The Mom mystery is one to just be grateful that nothing was broken! I sure hope this weekend is calmer, less mysterious and more relaxing!

  2. Can probably do without this kind of a day. Your Mom must have done a flip when she fell! Yikes! Silly puppy who knows huh. I have to laugh that yaya says you need her husbands Chiropractic hands....either her husband's or my husband's magic hands. (He's a chiropractor too)....or Grey Goose LOL!

So glad mom is okay! Now Millie, you just wonder what is going through her little puppy brain.
I hope your weekend starts off better than your Friday morning.

  6. Grey Goose for medicinal purposes is perfectly acceptable!! Of course, I would think that!! Our cat often acts as though he sees 'things' ~ maybe your doggie does too!,

How could anyone judge! You sure got you hands full!
I think dogs are just fickle at times, they like to keep us guessing too.
I'm glad your moms OK and hope your back gets to feeling better soon! Relax over the weekend!

  8. Oh my gosh Kim, I am sorry about your back but that sounds like the right kind of muscle relaxant for a Friday night. :)
That is just too weird. I wonder what the heck is going on.
Maybe a angel is sitting in that spot right now. You never can tell. :)

  9. Oh my, never a dull moment is there. I'm so glad your mom is all right but I'm feeling bad about your back. Go check the oven, maybe your mom put Millie's toy in the oven??? could that be a possibility? Weird behavior for Millie. Hugs. JB

  10. Oh Kim! What a day.Glad your Mom is ok but sorry about your back. I have a friend who blogs, Janice from Where the Fur Flies and her dog Cotton suddenly became afraid of normal everyday things. Hope you have a nice weekend Kim! Wine is a great muscle relaxant. I can say that with confidence, I threw my back out two weeks ago and it helped~the wine. I could hardly wait for wine time and 4:00! Heat wraps helped too.

  11. So glad your Mother is ok. My Mom is in great health at 82 and I still worry about her living alone. Certainly is odd about your dog. She must be related to my goofy Lucy.
    Have a wonderful weekend...and I won't judge!

  15. Well, no matter what, thanks for the laugh!! I would NEVER judge...and I too was wishing for some spirits to add to my beverage just a day ago. I had the same falling parent issues with two of our folks so know how that call felt. Glad she was OK but not at the expense of your back. Hope it will be alright.

Now about Millie...hmmm. A doggie ghost she's afraid of??

  17. Awww, poor Mom and poor Millie...wonder what she's spooked about? Has her disposition improve at all?
I'm so glad things are well for your mom and about that drink?!

  18. I would never judge you! I might laugh (since everything turned out OK) but I'd never judge. So glad your mother is fine, and I hope you figure out what is bothering the dog. It's a little weird... Take care of your back (more Grey Goose?) and I hope things get back to normal!

  19. Have you tried putting a flask on Millie's mat?? Just a thought.... ;o) Seriously - sorry to hear about the fall - I've been dealing with some of the same - my mom ended up in the hospital for 5 days due to a bronchial infection (they think), was released and home for less than 24 hours and got the "call" that she had fallen, cut her head and was being taken by ambulance to the hospital - again....during the little blizzard we had of course. She's ok - relocated to a nursing home yesterday for what (some of us) hope is a temporary stay....(yeah, long stories here).....Anywho....Glad all is well....And, fyi - one of my multiple personalities is a physician, and she says GG is a GREAT muscle relaxant..... ;o) Smiles & Hugs ~ Robin
