Spring Cleaning

I've made a little progress and I wanted to show you what I've been doing the past few days.  I have been whining about work lately.  I love my job but things have been busy and projects have been piling up and getting out of control.

When I say I was surrounded by piles of paper and mountains of half finished projects - - I really meant it.  I took this picture Friday after lunch.  I can't believe I am actually going to show you this - Don't Judge!!

I just could not function.  Well, look - - I had no clear space to work!  Arrrgh.   So after I went home Friday afternoon and had a bit of supper, I decided to go back to work and regain control.

But when I got back there, instead of getting to work, I decided I needed to re-arrange the furniture.  Do you ever do that??  I got so overwhelmed that I couldn't function.  But instead of working, I got this bizarre obsession to move furniture. So I moved the desk and moved a file cabinet from the front of the office to the back etc.   It is amazing the kind of Herculean strength you can muster when in a state of frenzy.  That desk and file cabinet weighed a ton.

I went back Saturday morning and it was just the little fresh change I needed.  I worked a few hours and went back again early this morning.

And this is the result   (a drum roll would be appropriate here)

It isn't perfect but it is a massive improvement.  There still is a small stack of papers at the back but they are all related to one project and should be dealt with tomorrow.

And NO, I did NOT just dump all that stuff in a box and hide it......(I know thats what some of you were thinking hehehe)   It was all dealt with.

Ahhhhh, big sigh of relief.  There is still lots to do, but at least now I can function.    It's not fun to spend a majority of your weekend working, but sometimes it is necessary.  I feel better now.

Now I can hook a bit tonight, guilt free.  I think I've earned it.

  2. YAYYYYYY you did it! Good for you. :)

I think you deserve a maple cream bar. :)

Now could you come help me do that?? My entire house needs a redo.

Have a great evening and a wonderful Monday.

    Take care, Janet W

  4. Nice change in your office. I don't function well either in clutter. I just can't think. I need organization and order and a place for everything. My husband is a pile maker and his desk is always cluttered and it doesn't seem to bother him.

I've been getting my stuff packed for my weekend for the 4th Maritimes Fiber Art Retreat at Atlantica Hotel and Marina, Oak Island. Then I'll have clean the inside of my van and put my house in order and prepare some food for the men for while I'm away so I won't be much on the computer this week.

I hope that Monday goes well for you. Hugs. JB

  5. Do you want my address? I wouldn't care what furniture you rearranged and how many papers you shuffled and discarded...I mean, I'm just thinking of you and your desire to work off frustration...truly, it's all about you.

  6. My studio is such a mess I need more than a couple of days to whip it into shape. Been so busy with orders (that's a good thing) that I end up with piles of stencils and bottles of paint closing in on me. I need a day to organized.

  10. Ha! I should have gotten here sooner so I could have been on the TOP of the list of places for you to visit next....I SOOOO need you! Compared to my desk at work, your "before" is an amazing improvement. (Does that tell you anything???) ;o) And now....about my house....Enjoy your new week ahead, with a clean, fresh, outlook - I think I do remember what that feels like....and it's GOOD! Smiles & Hugs ~ Robin (Yikes - how did I get so far behind here???) :o

  14. Girl...I can't even find my desk at work! I get it cleared off...then the next lesson plan...or should I say plans...take over. I got the whole place cleaned for parent's night...but in three days it's back to crazy. Your desk looks so serene now! I'm glad you got guilt-free hooking done! That didn't come out right, did it?
    Hugs,
    Courtney

  16. This is probably just exactly what you needed. I love working in a very neat environment, but to be honest, those occasions are few and far between. When I finally can't stand it anymore and I get it all put together, the work can really begin. Enjoy it!

  17. Impressive! I am always amazed at what pieces of furniture I manage to move on my own. Gotta strike when that pan is hot and get it done!
