Chatting with Patrice

Today feels like a good day to visit and have a chat with Patrice over at Everyday Ruralty

It has been awhile since I participated in the Farmhouse Porch Chats and it is a fun way to learn more about fellow bloggers and even find a few new fun blogs.

So, lets jump right in to this weeks questions

1.  Tell me a fond memory of an elderly person.

It is hard to pick just one.  I always loved going fishing with my grandfather.  We would stop at an old abandoned property and dig our own worms.  Yes, its hard to believe but I not only touched the worms, but even baited my own hook.  Then we would go to our favorite fishing hole for an hour or so.  The location was top secret.  A real fisherman never shares the location of a great spot.

2.  What is your favorite flavor of jam or jelly?

First, its definately jam over jelly.  Strawberry is my favorite.  I like it a little on the runny side, with no big lumps - the sweeter the better.

3. What goes through your mind when you drive by one of those whopping, huge houses that look like something in a magazine?

We have a lot of large fancy houses in our town.  Many of them have been converted to apartments over the years which is sad.   I have a few favorites that I dream about buywing when I win the lottery.  I have them all designed and decorated in my head.  I imagine myself lounging in the Grand Room, sipping wine and eating bon bons   Hahahaha

4. What is your favorite way to relax?

Sitting in the corner hooking on a new project or sitting in a large white adirondack chair, overlooking the water with a refreshing beverage,  or sitting on the porch of a little cabin tucked away from all the crazy.....  Gee, don't get me started - I could go on and on here.

5. What is your favorite kind of pasta?

I like a nice cheese tortellini in a creamy tomato sauce.  Mmmm, good idea for tonights supper.

Make sure to visit Patrice and see who else has stopped by to chat this week.

  1. You know what? I love your wonderful, carefree answers. You are just so cute. I love that you went fishing and dug and baited your own hook.
That was the rule to fishing at our house, if you didn't bait your own hook you didn't fish. :)
I love that you decorate those houses and I think you are just so amazing. You always entertain me. :)You just make my day.

  2. I remember fishing with my Dad. It was always so quiet as he said that talking scared the fish. I think he was just trying to have a few peaceful moments of his own :)

  7. Hi Kim, I came down from the ladder just to take a wee break and to comment on your blog.
I love all your answers. You sound so laid back and care in a relaxed mood with your answers.

Just so you know, I used to bait my own fishing hook with worms. The wigglier the better so the fish would bite. I didn't had a fishing rod so I used a twig and ties some white cotton parcel twine and added a small flat rock for weight and a small trout hook and I would go fishing with my friends and catch my dinner. I even cleaned my own trouts. I coated the trout in flour and fried it in the pan with butter salt & pepper. Those were he days. Hugs. JB

  9. Fishing with your grandfather is a cool memory. That's what grandpas are supposed to do. your way of relaxing- especially sitting where you can see the water, sounds so wonderful! I grew up near the water and I have friendly memories, so I find it relaxing. All the times I've worked in those big houses, or driven by them, I've never imagined decorating them. I usually think of the money involved. Some are beautiful, but I'll take a small house full of love any day. Watch those bon bons- strawberry jam would be yummier! lol
    Have a great week!

  12. I was always so proud that I could bait my own hook and sacrifice a worm to the cause. I really don't like trying to get the fish off the hook...but I can. I love that someone was there to teach us how! Love your answers on this chat!
    Hugs,
    Courtney

  15. Hi Kim, I loved your answers. I never baited my hook but I once caught a fish with my hair.I was fishing with my dad on his sailboat and I had a hair style where the pony tail was on the side. Well the fish bit I started reeling him in and my hair got wound in the line. We ended up pulling up the line by hand. Nothing looked funnier. Me looking at the fish from the corner of my eye as I held up the fish next to the side of the face waiting for my Dad to cut the line.Lol he came from the bottom of the ocean and since I reeled him up so fast his face and eyes popped out.Yuk!

  16. Fun post Kim....you're my kind of fun. You got me thinking....I think it was actually my brother who taught me to bait a hook - our father took us fishing, but I usually wandered off in the woods across the road while they fished in those days. My hunting and gathering days began early I guess... ;o) And....yummmm - did you make that pasta??? Any left???? ;o) Smiles & Hugs ~ Robin
