What's new in the 'hood

I thought I'd fill you in on what's been happening around here in "Crazy-ville".  It is never dull.

First I will start with the good, fun stuff.   I bought myself a new toy.

A new iPad2.   Yeahhhhhh!  And to sweeten the deal I sold my original iPad to a friend so it didn't feel so extravagant.

There has been another major purchase in the house.   On Friday last week I took Aunties car into get safety inspected.  I did not have high hopes.  Her car was old and has had some major issues in the past few years but she refused to trade.  Well, as I suspected it didn't pass inspection and needed several thousand dollars of work.

I could just imagine the drama that was destined to unfold.  You know I love Auntie, but seriously the woman could complicate a glass of water!!   I could picture her trying to pick a car and going back and forth.  I remember the drama when we had to buy a new stove.

Well, I couldn't take it.  I'm a "git er done" kind of girl.   Soooo, before I went home and told her the bad news, I went out on the dealership lot, found a good safe used car, made the deal with the salesman and had it delivered to our driveway.

They were leaving it with her to try for a couple of days and then she could sign the papers.  Well.......she was hopping mad for a few hours.  Then she took it for a drive.  It is a little smaller so it is more comfortable for her and its so cute.  (And I did make a really good deal)  Now she is happy and the papers are being signed tomorrow.

But it seemed like everytime I went out I noticed her car trunk was up.  Noooo, she says, I didn't pop the trunk.  Well, I didn't pop itself.  So then it happened again and I said "WHAT are you doing??  Stop pushing the trunk button on the remote"

Are you ready for this.......................

She says, "I'm not pushing the trunk button.....I'm pushing the CAR button"

O.M.G...........  Seriously people, does this explain why I am sometimes dancing on the edge???

LOL  I think she has it under control now.  She will never push that button again.   She was hopping mad because of course I couldn't stop laughing at her.

One last car related news of the week.   Yesterday morning I woke early and as I passed the bathroom window at 5:45am I looked out and my house was surrounded by 3 police cars.

I'm not sure which of my neighbors was in trouble but they didn't need to all park in front of MY house in the process of a raid. (or whatever it was)    At least it was too early for a lot of traffic.  I wouldn't want everyone thinking the 3 police cruisers were here.

Anyways, thats enough neighborhood news for tonight.   Don't forget to sign up for my giveaway in my last post if you haven't already.

  1. Oh Kim, I have laughed and laughed at that one. That is so funny, I bet she did get mad at you for laughing.
I would have felt a bit funny if there were three cop cars parked in front of my house too.
I wondered what you have been up to this week. You truly are a git-er-done kind of girl.

  2. Too funny!! You gotta love your aunt. I have been coveting IPads for a long time, have fun with it.

  3. The 'Car Button' is too cute!
Well, hey, if they're gonna use icons, they could have made the open trunk a little more obvious! Glad Auntie likes the new car. Your plan worked most excellently!
Oh dear, I hope the police weren't doing a vice raid on hookers! he-he!!!

  4. Kim ~
Woo hoo! An iPad2. Good for you. My DSO has one and it is just too cool. Love the weird pictures you can take with it!
You sure have Auntie's number. I'm so glad it all worked out. The trunk issue kind of reminds me of the blonde joke about the 710 cap. (Read the 710 upside down!)
Glad the police weren't looking for you.
    Pug hugs :)

  5. Kim, thank you for the e-mail LOL!! Poor Auntie, I certainly can see how she could become confused with the car key. At least she didn't set off the car alarm! I hope things have settled down in your neighborhood, never a dull moment at your house!

  6. well that is funny the car button but what I would like to know what was she expecting to happen when she pushed the car button?
you are right never a dull moment.
    congrats on your new ipad.

  8. WooHoo!!! Congrats on the IPAD....(what's that?) ;o) Seriously....I'm still trying to figure out how to play a dvd in my thing-a-ma-jig on the tv.....Yeah, yeah....I and Auntie...two peas in a pod....Hey - are you sure she doesn't have a "help" button on that remote that could explain the police at your house?? ;o) All I can say girl, is when I need it, I hope you're around to be my caretaker!! Love it!! Smiles & Hugs ~ Robin

  9. You mean there's already an upgrade to the Ipad? I'll just wait for the next one. I think your Auntie and her car story is for Reader's Digest! It's just way too funny! I don't think you should be casually walking past windows when your house is surrounded by just never know when the shooting could begin!

  10. I have a car button too!!!!! lol! Good deal! I am glad she likes it! Congrats on the iPad too! Cop cars that early in the morning can never be good... hope all is OK.

  11. Kim I am telling YOU! YOU crack me up! Congrats on the new iPad and that is funny about Auntie and the trunk. But I have to admit I find myself hitting all those buttons too and getting myself all frustrated. I hate those things!

  12. Geesh! I'm loving the car button story. There are no flies on you...straight to the dealership and off with the new car! I love it. I wish someone had done that with my car...I'm still waiting for the repairs. LOL

I'm glad to treated yourself to a super giftie. Looks like fun.

    Thanks for the chuckle!

  13. Hi Kim

Absolutley hysterical!! Sounds like my dear mother! Anyway, you have to review the ipad 2 as I have been researching buying one myself. I knew you got the ipad originally, but please give us the low down on this new toy!

  14. Any day now, I expect your next post to be from "The Funny Farm"!!! How you keep your sense of humor and sanity is just amazing!! I know ~ if you don't laugh, you'll go crazy!! It's just like that here, too! Someday you and I are going to get together and drink bottle of something!!!!!!!! I love WeaverPat's comment about a vice raid on hookers ~ that's funny!
    Have a good day, friend!!!!

  15. Kim, You are a hoot! How do you keep your sanity. The way you described Auntie complicating a glass of water that was so funny!
Lot's of excitement this week at your home have a fun weekend. Hugs Cheri

  16. Oh I am so jealous of you. I want an iPad2. It is on my wish list. Funny stuff about the car. My hubby has a hard time with the car remote too. Our remotes have about six buttons on them and he is forever pushing the wrong one. After having our car for a year, you would think he would have it figured out by now. He's still working on it:)

  17. OMG I am laughing so hard about the remote 'car' button!!! Too funny Kim and I feel for ya!!
