Hit and Miss Project

I have been without a hooking project all week.  Last weekend I didn't want to start a new project because I had signed up for a 4 week class at Deanne's to work on a landscape rug.  I was supposed to start last Wednesday but of course last weeks storm delayed it by a week.  And then the rest of the week was taking up with shovelling (and moaning about the snow).  I managed to amuse myself with knitting and blogging all week but by last night I couldn't stand it anymore.
As most of you "hookers" know, the pile of wool worms seems to multiple worse than rabbits!  So last night I gathered up a big bunch - threw them in a pile - and just started hooking on a piece of blank rug warp.   No plan, no lines except for a rough border.   It felt great to just do whatever - no stress of drawing and color planning - just grab a handful and GO.

Plus, a new project will be a nice distraction tomorrow.......during another 25 cm snowfall!  No, I am not kidding!   And just to add insult to injury I have a nasty leak in the window in the pantry.  The ice and snow has collected at the eaves of the house and created an ice dam.  It has nowhere to go and is seeping in around the window.  I have a collection of towels and tupperware dishes lining the window sill.  My handyman is  "supposed" to come over tomorrow and try to do something.   I hate winter.

On a happier note - don't forget to enter my giveaway.  Click here.    Remember, your gift credit is good for any of the CSN stores.  There are hundreds of items at every price point and lots of cute things to get with $40.

Happy weekend.

  1. LOVE the colors in your new rug - I'd like to design a rug as-you-go someday too! Hope you don't get any damage from the ice problem.

  2. Very pretty & cheerful! I like the squares dancing over the fabric. So often in a scrap rug it's circles, in rows but I like the movement of the squares every which way. I am dyeing wool now... maybe they will want to be hooked in little squares....

  3. I am lovin' your color combinations and little squares! Will be fun to see where it goes and what it desires to be!
I hope the handy guy gets to the bottom of your leaks. NOT fun. Winter needs to be gone. Quick.
I'm losing my sense of humor and I bet you're close to it too!
    Hang tough!

I'll run away with you to someplace warm...lol! We were supposed to get perhaps a trace of snow today. Well, our trace must now measure 5", but I'm sure you still win in the snow race (and I'll let you win!).
Stay warm and dry and keep on hookin' that delightful little rug. Looks like great colors for spring!
    Hugs :)

  8. Kim,
I love the little squares...what are you going to do for a background? The colors are so nice and Springy. I hear you about winter. My school has a flat roof and they insist it is safe...but, there's no money for teachers, so why would they spend it shoveling the snow. At least we missed today's storm. It turned to rain! Maybe just 6 more weeks! Let's pray for that!

  12. I love your colors. What happy spring colors to work with. I think it will be so pretty. I have learned so much about snow this year. I have never known that those things happen. I can't believe you are going to get more snow. I would say jump on a plane and come out here but we don't have snow but it is cold so it wouldn't be much better. I hope you handy man comes over and fixes your leak.
I love you posts by the way. I now it is hard but you sure make me laugh. :) Just because you are such a trooper.
Hugs from me to you, snow girl.

  13. Sorry about your leak. We had a water dam last year that backed up on our roof and caused a leak around the window and then got into the ceiling and now my ceiling is damaged and needs to be repaired. Haven't gotten around that yet. If it makes you feelbetter, it's snowing again here in Ottawa at the moment. Last year they had so much moresnow than this year. It snows often but no snificant accumulation.

I hope that your handyman can fix the leak. He'll need to remove the excess snow off the roof. That's what we had to do last year. Water always finds the easiest path.

I love your new hit and miss. Can't wait to see what it will look like when finished. Jb
