Plan B

It seems like since my oven died, all I have wanted to eat is stuff you have to bake.  Soups and slow cooker casseroles have gotten tired.  I went on the Kenmore replacement part website and put in the model number......Not found!  The stove is so old it's not even on their parts database.  Lol

I have been debating what to do.  Should I try to have it repaired or just bite the bullet and buy a new one?  Yesterday I went to the appliance store to look around and just see what the prices were like.  Then I thought some more.  I really don't want to buy something that big right now and since the top burners still work, I came up with a Plan B.

I bought a new toaster oven (that was 50% off) and this will hold me over until Spring.  So this morning I tested it out with my very first batch of cornbread.

I'm going to pat myself on the back and say it turned out great!  It's so nice having something baked again!

A quick snow update.....yes, we've had a bit more since my last post.  But this morning I was so excited to look out my window and see my car with no new snow on it.  It's the first day in weeks we haven't had even a brief flurry.  Yay!

  1. That was a good idea and it looks yummy. We are in day one of a two day snow storm about a foot of snow.

  2. The cornbread looks great and it looks like you got a nice toaster oven to solve your problem.

I'm in Ottawa and the kids keeps me on my toes. I don't get much time on the computer.

It's good that you didn't get anymore snow. It was snowing in Ottawa but they don't have as much as snow as Fredericton this year.

    1. They don't have as much snow as in Fredericton. Geez, my typos are getting worst.

  6. Awesome looking cornbread! Appliances are not cheap... do tons of research before buying anything though as they aren't built to last as long as the older ones...

  7. Good solution and the cornbread looks perfect. Hopefully the sun will shine and there will be no more snow for you. Temps here yesterday was in the 60's!

  8. A wise move and any 50% off is all bonus!
Plus of course, you can use the defunct oven for stash storage lol

  9. You found a really nice oven. We have a large counter top oven and that's all we use any more. They really are convenient and do a great job. Happy that you found a reasonable solution. New stoves cost a bundle!

  12. Smart plan! A lot of people only use a toaster oven. I think there is a cook book for toaster ovens too!

  14. Keep your eyes open for garage or household sales when it comes to appliances...many times people just want to get rid of them and you could score a new oven for cheap! In the mean time, your toaster oven may work out so good you'll nix the oven all together!
