Can't turn it off

My brain! It's going non stop. Is it Friday yet? That gives you an idea of my week so far :(. Warning - I might get a little whiny here. Things started to go downhill Sunday. I got a last minute work commitment Monday and today. The problem was Mom's birthday was yesterday and I had arranged for the little gathering of her old buddies. Nothing fancy, just cake, ice cream and tea. But I had to work.

I felt guilty about not being there so I didn't sleep much Sunday night. That makes for a long day. My session lasted until 8pm. I was tired, guilty, and crabby and honestly I hoped all the fuss was over at home. I knew by then that Mom would be in not a good state. Her cognitive skills slide downward in the evening.
But after a 12 hour work day, I arrived home and it was "standing room only". I should be grateful her friends had gathered around for her. But the truth is I wanted everyone to go home. I'm sure their intent was to be thoughtful, so they all waited for me to get home before they had the cake and treats. I had so hoped it would all be over when I got home. Yes, I realize how bad this sounds but I'm just being honest here. They left just after 9:30.

I was back in that work session all day today after the 2nd virtually sleepless night. When I got home at supper time I was so tired I could have just sat down and cried for no reason.
Tonight I'm just going to unwind with a long, hot bath and maybe a little hooking. I haven't checked blogs for a few days but I'll catch up later in the week.

You have NOTHING to feel guilty about! A little (a lot?) of wine may help you unwind, too!!!
Happy, happy birthday to mom. I know it was hard on you, but how wonderful her friends haven't abandoned her.
    Big hugs :)

  8. Oh, I'm sorry it's been so hectic. :( I hope you are able to get some rest soon. Hot bath is a good idea - that's what I run to when the boys have been crazy all day. :)

  10. HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY to your Mom, If she has so many loving friends still gathering around her, it's a tribute of how special a person she has been in their lives and your's and still is. Relationships takes time to develop and this is beautiful. I'm glad that you arranged a celebration of her birthday. I hope someone took pictures.

Don't feel guilty that you couldn't be there.
Get a foot message by a experience foot reflexologist and I'm sure that you'll sleep like a baby.

    Hugs,

  11. Gosh, working 12 hour days must be hard. I hear you!!
I wanted to thank you for dropping by my "new neighbors" post. The bunnies are cute but we do have a raccoon come by every once in awhile onto the screened in porch, yup he will dig the screen at the bottom of the door and get right in, they are smart you know. We have set up a deer cam on the table once to see what he does, he is kinda funny, he is sooo curious. I hope your groundhog stays away this year....
