Weekend review

,I have to say....almost perfect.  My first weekend in the new house that didn't involve unpacking anything.
This morning I was out of bed early and had a load of laundry hanging on the line by 8am.
My grandma would be proud :).  Can't wait to jump into bed today on fresh washed sheets dried in the sunshine.  So much nicer than from the dryer.  And easier on the electric bill.  Lol.  I thought that chore deserved a little treat.  Nothing like a special coffee to get you going on a weekend !

I'm slowly trying to fill my pantry (I'm watching the sale flyers and buying what's on sale until I get a supply of basics built up).  And I'm also trying to stock the freezer a bit.  It makes meal time so much easier when you're not in the mood to cook a full supper and it uses up any leftovers.

I made a big pot of old fashioned hamburger soup.  It simmered all afternoon.

My downfall was I started watching Netflix after lunch. I thought I'd check out Homeland as I heard good reviews.  Big mistake!  I've watched half the first season today :).  Great show (obviously or I wouldn't have wasted the afternoon)

I still haven't picked up my rug hook although I really am missing it.  I think I need a small quick project to get me moving. But in the meantime I've been knitting in front of the TV.

Maybe this will inspire me.  I love this magazine

I hope everyone had a great weekend.  Summer is quickly winding up but there's still sunshine in the forecast for this week.

  3. I'm glad you are enjoying your new home! Ii have picked a lot of tomatoes so I roasted them and then made tomato basil soup today. Love having it stocked in the freezer for this fall/winter. I even picked up my hook today!

  4. Sounds like you had a perfect weekend. Please don't tell me you are done unpacking!
Oh, if you have Nertflix, check out Luther. A wonderful British series.
I haven't picked up the hook in about 6 weeks. It better be soon because I am having serious withdrawal symptoms. It's not like I don't have at least a dozen patterns already on linen.
I am so not ready for fall. Found my first colored leaf in the garden today. NOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!
    Hugs :)

  6. Your weekend sounds like perfection to me! :-) I may have to check out Netflix as it is getting more and more difficult to find something good to watch on tv. Sometimes I wonder why I pay for cable? Have a great week!

  13. I 'm so glad you are settling in. Wow what a wonderful weekend. I have always wanted to have a place to hang clothes on the line like my grandma. Maybe when we move back we can find a house instead of apt.

    Hamburger soup sounds wonderful.

Would you like to come over and help me with my boxes of stuff that are still in my way and making me nuts ?? :)

Hope you have a great week too , my friend.

    Take care, Janet W

  14. Nice to just take it easy for a change and enjoy your new place! The summer is coming to a close but the temps have decided to go up with the humidity around here. That always happens when the kids go back to school! One more week until September...can't believe how fast it's going!

  15. Kim, you sound like a regular homemaker. I love the smell of freshly laundered bedding dried on the line. It makes going to bed inviting. The soup looks very homey too and the doctored coffee too.
Wow, your fingers never gets tired, look at all those dishcloths.
    Enjoy your home.
    Hugs,
