Blinkin' Crazy??

This morning as I was driving back to the office after a meeting, I went to turn right and it seemed like my turn signal blinker was acting funny.  I put the left blinker on, just to see and it was fine.

When I used the left one - the flicker went blink......blink......blink.....
Normal.  But when I was turning right it went blink.blink.blink

(OK at this point I'm sure it is becoming apparent that I am a little low on clever blog posts tonight)

Anyway, I couldn't figure out what was wrong with the stupid blinker.  I didn't know if it had a short in the wiring but since it was a busy day - I ignored it.

Not long after I got back to work after lunch, my phone rang.  It was one of our Town Councillors.  He said he was behind me on the way to work and my passenger side brake light was burnt out.  Hmmm, I said thats funny cuz I'm having trouble with the blinker on that side too.  He sort of laughed and then asked if it was blinking really fast.  Yes..........  Apparently that is the warning signal that your brake lights are out!!!!

Seriously??  Did any of you know that??  Am I the only stupid one??   Geez,  Who Knew??   Anyway, I thanked him for letting me know.  I probably would have gotten a ticket from the police if it had been left to long.  I stopped at the Chev dealership on my way home from work and its fixed.  (Yes, they laughed at me too)

Really people - Does everyone know this??

Anyway - update on last night.  Mom and I had the best evening.  I got her bathed early and then we both put our jammies on.  I put her pyjamas on the heating vent so they would be all toasty for her.  Amazingly she didn't fuss all night.  She was good as gold.  We watched a little TV and we even had ice cream sundaes and cookies.  And I did enjoy a couple of glasses of red wine.  Actually goes great with chocolate chip cookies!!

It was a very relaxing stress free evening. It was just what the doctor ordered.

  1. I am so glad you had a nice evening. I think that is what you needed and I love the kitty picture.
Too bad about the light, yes, I know that only because my daughter had the same problem. How nice though to have someone tell you.
    Have a great weekend Kim.

  2. Kim. I know how you feel about the stupid blinking light. Last week when I was on my way to the grocery store coming back from the doctor on a snowy day and my wipers just quit while driving up the hill. The car was brought to the dealer when it stopped snowing and raining and he said that it was the wiper motor. He didn't had any in stock and to come back wednesday and he would fix it. Wednesday, in the misting rain the car was driven to the dealership to have the motor replaced, only the piece hadn't come in. Come back on Friday and it would be fixed. Again, in the mist , it was brought to the dealer to have the wiper motor replaced. The guy never called to say that the piece didn't come in and had to be back ordered. So the trip again was in vain in inclement weather. Now they say come back on Monday. I've had enough of this.

I need a drink of my Gewurztr. Actually, I'm on my second glass, can't you tell? Have a great weekend, friend. JB

  3. I did not know that about tail lights and blinkers. But I have had one blink real fast and had taillights out, just didn't make the connection I was a blown fuse in my case. Well, now I know.
Happy you had a relaxing evening with your mom.
Wine and chocolate chip cookies sounds good to me.

  4. Glad you had a nice relaxing evening.
The only reason I know about the blinkers is because it happened to me and when I mentioned it to Zip he told me what it meant.
Don't feel silly! It's not something everyone knows about.
As for the guys at the dealership, they work with cars every day, unlike the rest of us. I bet they don't know diddly about rughooking! Should we laugh???

  11. Hee hee, I do have to admit I knew about the fast blinking meaning it is out or about to be out.

Julia, I had a similar problem. I quickly learned that if your wiper blades are stuck to the windshield with ice and you try and use them, you will blow your fuse or motor very quickly. I got real good at changing fuses in my Jeep. :) Of course now I check that they are not frozen to the windshield. Ha!
